This is the best book of the Poldark series yet. Graham doesn't pull any punches with the plot. It's so driven that I found myself engaged in this book more than I have any other novel in many years. If you have come this far in reading the series, you are already attached to the characters. But this one shows even more depth, and the new characters are introduced brilliantly. Again, Graham leaves the last page with enough uncertainty to make the reader crave the next book. I'm rushing to my library today to get Book 8.
After the minor disappointment of the Four Swans, Winston Graham is back in full force here. This is currently GoodRead's highest-rated Poldark novel and it is easy to see why.
After being behind so many other characters' thoughts in the previous novel, the reader finally gets to return to Ross's headspace which is as engaging as always. While there are many plot threads it is refreshing that Ross and Demelza are back as the central thread. This is especially fitting considering that this is the last novel before the junior Poldarks begin to steal the limelight.
In a way, this is the last Ross and Demelza novel and Graham weaves a compelling weave of a couple trying to move beyond past hurt. Fortunately, this is not the end of the series but if it were it would've been a good one.

I have to admit the blurb gave most of the plot away ... :/
Graham out does himself again. I always enjoy reading his writing because his character development and plot weaving is a thing beauty. I am usually pretty good about guessing plot twists however Graham always manages to surprise me.
I am shocked with the ending and I dread what will happen next now that a certain someone is off their leash and free to do what they please. I think that we the audience, have yet to see the true influence and reach of them.

"All we know is this moment, and this moment, Ross, we are alive! We are. We are. The past is over, gone. What is to come doesn’t exist yet. That’s tomorrow! It’s only now that can ever be, at any one moment. And at this moment, now, we are alive – and together. We can’t ask more. There isn’t any more to ask."
You know it's a Poldark book when the ending makes you cry.
Though it doesn't quite beat Warleggan for me, The Angry Tide is definitely one of my favourite Poldark books. There's just so much that happens.
Winston Graham never fails to astound me with his ability to weave such complex, rich stories and explore the lives of characters whom I know as well as myself by now. That is what keeps drawing me back to this series, and what has captivated readers and viewers alike for decades: the story and the characters. No matter how many years have passed since these books were first published, they remain as engaging and as full of life as ever. That is a testament to how well they are written, and to why it has become one of my favourite book series of all time.
Honestly, Elizabeth should have died like 3-4 books ago. She was so fucking annoying.
