This book hits you in all the feels. I have a soft spot for goalies. Truly. JP is the one I’ve been rooting for all along. Cammy & JPs story is one where I always hope for the best but prepare for some speed bumps. This book was everything I needed and more.

I’m happy to report I cried only twice during my read.

The whole thing felt so contrived. I was really disappointed because it had a lot of potential. It was all over the place. Both too involved and too shallow where it shouldn’t have been.

If you’re looking for a cinnamon roll, you’re going to want to meet JP!

Tropes:
🏒 Coach’s Daughter
🏒 Second Chance
🏒 He Falls First
🏒 Cinnamon Roll
🏒 Secrets

Cammy and JP finally get their shot together, until JP leaves her in the middle of the night and is found in a car accident with another woman. Now he’s on the hockey team she works for and her dad’s a coach for. JP is going to do everything he can to get Cammy to give him another chance, even though he can’t tell her what really happened that night…

I really loved JP and Cammy’s story. JP is so incredibly sweet and is really willing to do what he can to win her back. And…I mean…there’s a ZAMBONI scene. I really enjoyed how everything came together in the end. JP has all my love 😍

This was such a cute second chance romance. I enjoyed the angst and banter between Cammy and JP the most. I also appreciated the overall feel-good tone of this book. Though it did cover some pretty heavy topics about family trauma, I thought the author did a good job at balancing humor with the tough topics. The friend group in this book was fun as well. I laughed a few times at the joking between JP and the hockey team and felt the closeness of Cammy and the girls.

Overall, I had a good time with this one! It made me want to read more books from this world and more hockey romances!

I've enjoyed the previous books in this series and this was no different. From the first chapter I couldn't wait for Cammy and JP's first "re-encounter" as this was a second-chance romance. Cammy is the goalie coaches daughter - his was one of my favorite Kenna King stories - and JP has a reputation and broke Cammy's heart when he disappeared into the night. I loved the cute messages on the pucks, the undeniable chemistry, and of course the HEA. I did think JP gave up a little too easy for the third act break up, which wasn't my favorite, and I didn't think resolved well with Cammy and her dad - who was very much involved in the break up - but I loved the fight both of them showed.

my favorite quote - “that each pick i tossed to you meant as much as to you as they did to me. maybe there’s more to us than you think there is.”

i love second chance romances so much. there’s something about the growth of a couple when they get back together that i love so much. this was so cute and binged this so fast! i’m looking forward to more books by kenna king!
