ARC REVIEW
This was something new and fresh that I didn't even know I needed. JP is the type of guy who knows what he wants and won't stop till he gets it; though granted, he lets his head get in the way of his happiness sometimes, he's backed up by amazing, wonderful people. I love Cammy, right from the start; she's a type of girl who doesn't let what others say influence her decision, and when she wants something, she gets it done. When she was sure of her feeling for JP immediately she fought for them and made damn sure she won. The miscommunication trope was annoying, but it wasn't the main focus here; their story was, and I loved that more. Now, about a certain doctor and player, that's a story I'm interested in reading.

I unfortunatley just hate a miscommunication trope and this one just did me in! Almost DNF'ed. But it was a sweet story just irritable me based on my tastes.

I enjoyed this one, I’m always down for a hockey romance and these tropes. The second chance aspect I was a little iffy of but this MC is self sacrificing to protect his people, and the reasons as to why unfolds at the end. Plus he is β€œboy obsessed”and is so swoony in all the ways he tries to get the girl. The audio was great the narration was on point and you could feel the passion for the MC in the narrators voice.

JP Dumont has been chasing after Coach Wrenley's daughter, Cammy for the last 3 years. She gave in to his pursuits and she came to his playoff game. He finally had the chance to swoon her with Chinese food and one thing lead to another and they spent a magical night together. JP thought this was it he finally caught his girl of his dreams then a phone call would derail that and his hockey career.

Now 1.5 later he is still picking up the pieces of that night. He is in Seattle trying to earn a goalie spot for the team Cammy works for. He’s looking for redemption on the ice and a second chance with the love of his life.

But Cammy wants nothing to do with him even if the chemistry is still sizzling between them. He made a choice to leave her that night and won’t explain why, she won’t let her heart go down that path twice. She gave him a chance before and he crushed her, so this time around they are keeping this strictly business. But not even Cammy can resist the swoony attempts to win her back and escapades of this goalie.

My Feelings: THIS BOOK MADE ME FEEL ALL THE FEELS. it had me giggling, crying, frustrated, kicking my feet, hot and heavy,  all of it!  Just ugh! The spice is there from the start. This is an amazing redemption story. Jp has my heart even if he frustrated  the heck outta me. Not to mention  the girl boss that Cammy is.  I definitely  recommend  reading this and can't wait to get a physical  copy of this book.

emotional funny lighthearted

Thank you, Chasing Books PR, for the advanced copy!

This story was cute and steamy! I dislike the miscommunication trope, but I still enjoyed the overall story. The characters clicked together well, and the banter between teammates was really good.

This one pulled me in from the very beginning! I am a sucker for an MMC who spills all his secrets in a foreign language when the FMC has no clue what he is saying & JP’s French was amazing. If this one gets an audio book I will definitely add it to my library!

JP definitely made some mistakes in the past, and he has an uphill battle ahead of him to have even a glimmer of hope for a chance with Cammy again. Unfortunately because of broken trust from the people in her life she should have been able to rely on the most, she has walls stronger than the Great Wall of China surround her heart.

I love the relationships between all the girls in this book & how supportive they all are with each other. The chemistry between JP and Cammy is off the charts, but the way these friend groups all mesh together is also just amazing.

Kenna wrote the personal growth/character development of this book so well. I really loved ever aspect of this one and I can’t wait for Hunter’s story to see how this whole group handles what comes next!

*this is kind of a second gen/spin off from the Hawkeyes Hockey series. You don’t have to read that series first (I haven’t 😬) but there are several side characters that would probably make more sense to you if you do*

Thank you to Chasing Books PR and the Author for a free copy of this book. All thoughts are my own and are freely given.

I was super excited to get my hands on this book. I have had a stride in sports romances lately, and Hockey is quickly becoming one of my favorite. On top of the hockey, this is a second chance romance which I absolutely adore.

This book is a spin off of another series, and while its not required to have read the previous books, as someone who hasn't I do recommend it. The book does a really good job of explaining who everyone is from the previous series, however given the nature of some of the characters I feel like having the backstory would have made them a bit more relatable vs not having that understanding. That being said, I really enjoyed this book and the story between our main couple.

The pacing of this book was very well planned and thought out. It has spice, even a Zamboni scene, and the way the team aspect easily transitions into Found Family was top tier. Again, considering the team dynamic, I feel like having the background of the other characters would have only increased the Found Family aspect of the story.

I'm not a big fan of third act break ups and miscommunication. Unfortunately this book has both right at the same time. HOWEVER, I will say that the author more than makes up for it in the way that the main couple works together. Their relationship came to a screeching halt after a night of beauty with a secret that our MC, JP refuses to tell. He never gave up on Cammy though, despite the distance and the fact that she blocked his number. He is a reformed bad boy and she is his endgame. Cammy has to learn to trust him again even though he won't tell her what happened that night.

While this was my first book by this author, it won't be the last one. I am eager to get into the stories of the other characters and see their relationships bloom.

ARC Review. JP has been fighting for the girl for years. For one perfect night, he knows what it means to have her, but his actions destroy them before they start. 18 months later, he’s in her town, determined to win her back. But Cammy won’t give in without a fight, or without knowing the truth.

Cammy is such a tough cookie. She’s been betrayed before, and her walls are a mile high. She is girl goals, with her no bs attitude and a wicked slapshot. She’s not about to let JP in a second time. JP on the other hand, is giving up almost everything for a second chance. It must be noted that JP kills me with the French. I would read the scene and then translate when he dips into French and all of a sudden I’m a puddle. He lays his heart out so clearly for her in a language she doesn’t understand. He’s desperate to change how everyone sees him and find redemption in the eyes of the only woman he’s ever loved. There’s a Zamboni moment, and a lot of self-sacrificing (to the point I wanted to shake the MMC). Solid hockey read.
