Match Penalty by Kenna King ✨️arc review✨️

Kenna King, the queen of spice of ice, has RETURNED to the ice hockey romance scene with Match Penalty, her first book in her new Rookie Hawkeyes Series.

For the bookish babes that have been here since Cocky Score (book 1 in The Hawekeyes Hockey Series) fear not for you will not be disappointed with this first book in Kenna Kings next generation sequel series. Match Penalty has all of Kenna King's classic book staples: the yearning, the tension, the uninterested FMC, the head over heels MMC, and of course...the SPICE. This book also contains some of our favorite characters/couples from the previous series, which was honestly so much fun. Of course, reading the OG cast of characters throughout the first 9 books was like SWOON, but reading about them and how far they have come gives this book a very nostalgic feel, almost like returning home.

JP and Cammy's story is such a strong way to start off this series because THEY ARE SO LOVABLE, they give off Brent and Zoey vibes (iykyk). The amount of tension and yearning in this book is enough to just light the reader's kindle on fire. First off, before even getting into the bulk of the story, TELL ME WHY this man is literally putting in ALL THE EFFORT  just to get Cammy to AKNOWKEDGE him. 2 minutes into the book, and I'm like, "and onto the bookboyfriend list he goes," and the obviously everything crashes and burns, then flash forward to chapter one we go. I will say that one of the things I loved about this book was the amount of tension that was created due to both Cammy and JP just having to rebuild their relationship. Which (of course) made the SPICE literally the best thing ever. I liked how Kenna King found the perfect balance between the characters, the overall plot in general, and the amount of spice, which, in my opinion, was just perfect. I loved every second of this book, I think these two have such an undeniable chemistry that is clearly shown throughout the book.
Honestly, Kenna King, this book is just *mwuah* chef's kiss. It was amazing, and I am so grateful to have received an early copy. I'm so excited for what this series has to offer because this book was fabulous, and it's only going to get better.

✨️Of course, Match Penalty will be out and available to all of you ice hockey romance bookish babes on May 13th and can be read on Kindle Unlimited or in paperback!!✨️

Lock in babes, it's a fun romantic ride 🤭🩷

JP pursued Cammy as soon as he saw her.  Cammy was not interested in his playboy ways and no thanks to being a notch on his post.

But when he gets a chance he epically blows it.  Now he has found his way back to Cammy to show her he meant every word he said and win her back for good.  But Cammy is a coaches’ daughter and he is not having any of JP trying to woo Cammy back.  Can they make it or will this destroy both of them?

My first Kenna book and I loved it!  Great story and hockey found family.

I think this was my favorite Kenna King book so far! JP and Cammy were such a cute couple!! I love that Kenna is doing the next generation of Hawkeye players! Honestly a second chance romance is hard because of the inevitable third act break up..usually it’s something that should be the big breaking point that makes it difficult to understand why the MCs even get back together but Kenna did a good job making it believable but not for a reason that makes you really dislike one or both of the MCs. This book was sweet and spicy with a good mix of character development and romance…JP can talk in French to me any day 😂

Thank you Chasing Books PR and Kenna King for the eARC

This was such a fun read! I love hockey and reading about it in a book is so fun. This book had so many ups and downs with the main characters relationship and it kept me hooked throughout the whole book. Reading this makes me want a hockey love in real life!! If you like books about hockey then this is definitely book you should check out :)

Match Penalty is a winning combination of hockey romance and a second chance at love, delivering both steam and heartfelt moments. I was immediately drawn in and couldn't stop reading. The pacing was flawless, the spice level was satisfying, and the found family dynamic added a wonderful touch. I look forward to seeing where the rest of the series goes!

I enjoy a good hockey romance especially deep into the Stanley Cup playoffs. This is my first Kenna King and it did not disappoint! The dynamics, the romance between Cassie and JP. The fight JP has to put in to prove he’s good enough for the coaches daughter and not like his father at all.

I loved Cammy and JP’s second chance story! It had a little bit of everything…tension, flirting, spice, romance, humor, and heartbreak. I really loved the characters and this new shared world. Can’t wait to read more!

This was really sweet. There's a touch of other woman drama and a bit of miscommunication, but it makes sense and didn't deter me from enjoying this one like those tropes often do. JP was just so stinking in love with her it was hard not to love him to bits.

I really liked Cami too. She was strong and smart and I loved how she really took charge in her personal and professional life. She too had a hard time not falling for JP and it was absolutely worth the struggles in the end.

This was a second gen series that has me excited to pick up the first set of books. We get to see so many characters with HEAs in the first series and I'd love to know their backstories.

The audio was great. I thought Alex Kydd and Maeve York both did wonderful jobs narrating these characters and I loved this listen.

Thank you so much to Must Love Audio for this advanced copy!
