I enjoyed this read so much. First, Kenna’s writing is beautiful. I found myself really engaged with the story, loving the characters (except Seven lol) and really in the world of the Hawkeyes. I felt like there was such a family aspect to the story, mainly with the team, and the other people who worked at the stadium.
JP was everything! I loved him so much. I definitely felt sorry for him a lot, because people judged him because of his father. I hated that the media made him out to be someone he wasn’t. I’m so glad he had someone like Cammy who truly looked at him for who he was. Also the French was super cute. I loved that he would say things to her, and she wouldn’t understand.

Cammy. My girl. She jumped to a lot of conclusions, but I get it. She had a lot of family drama, and some things just aren’t easy to change. Overall, she was funny. I loved her energy, and loved that she fought for her and JP. Even though it took some pushing, she still stood up for herself.

Okay…my only criticism is the miscommunication. It just went on for a while and I found myself getting a bit anxious. In my mind, I knew they would make it but it just pressed on just a tad bit longer than I expected. It did make the characters strong in a lot of ways, and I did think that came out on top because of it. If the miscommunication and 3rd Act breakup tropes don’t settle for you, then this book may not be for you.

Seven….I just….I can’t forgive him. He messed up a lot and I just screamed so much at him lol. Even after everything worked out, he was still being difficult. Seven…get it together.

The real MVPs of this story are Slade, Brynn, Penelope, Coach Haynes and Aria. Lol Especially Coach Haynes. Give that man a medal. They all were a big part of the found family and I really loved them.
Overall, a great story! I absolutely will be reading book 2, and the rest of this series! Kenna is an amazing story teller, and I found myself loving it so much.

Thank you Chasing Book PR for this lovely read and Kenna King! I can’t wait to read book 2 because I just know that it's going to be great.

This was so fun!!

I have been in such a hockey romance mood and this was perfect.

I personally LOVED these narrators. They immediately drew me into the story and kept me engaged until the very end. I simply cannot wait to see where this series goes!!! I love all of these characters and I loved their specific dynamics with one another.

The 'forbidden' trope really kept the action going and added some nice tension filled moments!! This also made for some fantastic spicy scenes!!

Overall, this was absolutely a great time and I cannot wait to continue this series.

Thank you Must Love Audio for this free audiobook in exchange for my honest review!!!

Match Penalty- Kenna King

This book was okay. I’m not sure if it was just my dislike of the miscommunication trope or just the fact that one simple conversation would have fixed so many problems for this couple and yet, the FMC never let that conversation happen. Then later her dad got in the way of them being together and this part was never addressed, which is really the biggest reason for me lowering my rating. I guess if had someone had the nerve to address the dad for basically making JP leave Cammy, and also making JP feel less than, rather than just accepting his threat, I would have had more respect for them. It wasn’t a bad book, I laughed quite a bit, but I just had some hang ups on some of the plot decisions, and that’s probably just a me thing.

Alex and Maeve did incredible on this narration though. Alex can speak to me in French any day of the week and I’m sat for it. Maeve did an incredible job bringing Cammy to life!

Match Penalty is a fun, endearing story about secrets and second chances.

King brings us two MCs that are strong, loyal, and lovable and with a story that will make you fall in love with every word. Their story is full of fun, discovery, and heat. Cammy and JP had the perfect mix of banter and sweetness in their interactions.

The storyline is well paced and keeps you reading. It was a hard book to put down. The side characters are entertaining and add insight to the storyline and the MCs. I’m excited to read the rest of this series to see who shows up in the next books.

If you’re looking for a fun romance with some good banter, sizzling tension, and a second chance that will have you falling in love, Match Penalty should definitely be on your TBR.
