I always love the found family vibe of hockey romances. The characters are all very lovable. Actually, I think my favourite character is Brynn. The pacing of the story is good. This is a steamy romance, but the MMC is also a golden retriever.
The general story is really cute, heartwarming and hopeful. There’s also an intrigue because Cammy doesn’t know the reason of their failed first chance.
I’ve really enjoyed this reading and would recommend it to every sports romance lovers.

I love a good hockey romance, especially a coach's daughter. I loved the relationship between Cammy and JP. I loved the way he spoke to her in French and was always doing his best to take care of her.. however the lack of communication was so frustrating. I'm not a fan of third act breakups and this one just felt so unnecessary. I did enjoy it though and would recommend it.

If you like hockey romance with angst & drama, you like this one. It’s addictive i must say, finished it in a day ( that’s a wow from me, btw).
Get a man like JP, DOWN Bad, pining, flirts & love declaration in FRENCH, wore her hair tie for YEARS…yes, yes, yes to all ( i love when MMC is bilingual, triple and more, its add more, you know)
Cammy the FMC, such a coach’s daughter! Puck queen~
And love that the hockey teammates came from all over the world, there’s Finish, Russian!!
Why it wasnt solid 4 star & more, it’s the Second chance (to me it’s tricky, to write a good one) & Cammy’s Father (super annoying), JP’s past (for god sake, wake up, man), miscommunication.
What i really like, the use of PUCKS, 🏒. Havent read a book in hockey romance that used pucks as flirt & love declaration
CREATIVE!
Thanks for ARC, Chasing Books, Love discovering new to me authors!

This was such a cute story 😍. I loved the story of Cammy and JP. A story that started years ago and then an unfortunate circumstance that drew them apart. Trust and earning trust isn't easy, when when you can't tell someone the full truth. But watching the character development of both MCs was good to witness. Seeing the fierce determination to protect the ones you love even when it might cost you everything. Here's to second chances 😊👏🏾.

Maybe I’m biased because I binge read and loved the original series but I loved this book too lol. Even though it’s over 300 pages it was a quick read and it was very cute. If you love the boy-obsessed trope this is for you. I’d recommend reading the Hawkeyes Hockey series first just to get a better sense of the world but you don’t need to read them to understand the setting & characters of this book.

Im a fantasy reader through and through but every once in awhile I need a reset from world building. When this happens my go to genre is typically sports romance or romantic comedy. I know! Complete opposite of my normal genre preference!
Well I just finished an ARC of Match Penalty by Kenna King and its oh so good! This spicy, second-chance hockey romance had me hooked from the first chapter. Jon Paul Dumont is the kind of messy, brooding athlete you can't help but root for!
This is the debut book in The Rookie Hawkeyes and a spin off of Hawkeyes Hockey series. While this is a standalone and you do not need to read the previous series, I do feel like it would be helpful as the characters reference things that happened in the past with other couples which left me at times feeling like I was missing something.
If you love:
• Second Chance Romance – They have a history, and it’s complicated.
• Workplace Romance /Forbidden Love
• Team Dynamics
• Hockey Romance
• Past Trauma / Emotional Healing
Mood: Melting more than the ice…
