You just can't help falling for JP. Even though Coach Wrenley clearly
isn’t his biggest fan, JP still comes quite close to being a very good son-in-law
when you see how hard he tries to win his girl back.
In this book, JP is on a mission to regain Cammy’s trust. To do that, he first has to let go of some emotional baggage and find a way to deal with an extremely strict, overprotective dad. Cammy, meanwhile, is a bit of a lovesick puppy, once again risking a broken heart. But hey — love is a beautiful thing when it can overcome obstacles.
The other girls in the story are a fun addition — they bring warmth and light moments, even if they sometimes feel a bit one-dimensional. Still, they add energy to the story and a nice sense of friendship within the group.
I really enjoyed reading this book, and every time I dive into a hockey romance, I get the urge to go watch a game live.

Reading Match Penalty was like getting a warm hug. Cammy is your relatable FMC who refuses to give her heart to a hockey player.. objectively so! JP is the hot shot new signing who came to the Hawkeyes to get his career back, and get the girl. The opening plot sets to book up to be completely backwards. And by the end of Chapter One, I was hooked. What happened that night? Is JP just your typical jock MMC? How was he going to redeem himself? And ultimately, why did he leave? The character development shows how media, and gossip alter the true narrative of events, and how you can’t trust everything around you. The spice was well done and on point. I’d give it 3/5 on the spice scale.
Does Cammy get her happily ever after? The only way is to dive in and find out.

I freaking love me some hockey Romance. I love everything about this whole love story that these two characters and how they fought for relationship that they going on through the whole book. I understood why certain people play a part in certain moment in this story but I glad for the ending of this book and I can’t wait to read more books from this series
Hockey Romances have quickly become my obsession and this one was fantastic. Cammy has trust issues due to people letting her down her whole life. JP is trying to prove he’s not his father but keeps getting in situations that make that incredibly hard. I thought it was crazy that no one knew Angelica was his best friend but I guess with his playboy reputation it makes sense. This second chance romance was full of redemption and I was rooting for JP to realize that he was worthy of that second chance.
Seven drove me crazy with his overprotective fathering of Cammy but considering they have only been in each other’s lives for such a short time, it made sense that he would want to protect her from heartbreak. I absolutely loved all the side characters and will definitely be reading The Hawkeyes Hockey series to find out more about the ones that already have books. I can’t wait to read the next one in this series.

After a one night stand gone wrong, Cammy decides to never again give JP Dumont the time of the day…. but JP had other plans in mind, signing up to the team she works for, a year and a half after their ✨encounter✨, making his comeback after a life-threatening injury.
JP swears there was more to that night than him disappearing, but Cammy doesn’t believe him. He ends up challenging Cammy to a bet: three shots on goal for the chance to prove he’s not the player everyone thinks he is. Cammy agrees, but she is afraid she’ll make the same mistake twice.
I am a sucker for a good second chance romance and this book delivered. Add the forbidden romance to the mix and I was glued to the book until I finished it.
Cammy made JP work for it and JP was all in. Yes, they had a lot of miscommunication between them, but I still love how they were both together. I loved how JP always gave Cammy a puck with a little note and how she KEPT ALL OF THEM 😭😭 Cammy struggled a lot when it came to JP because she still had feelings for him but she knew his reputation followed him and he never truly explained what happened that night. This made her hesitant to be with him, afraid of being hurt again.
This was my first book from Kenna King and I am certain it won’t be the last. Catch me reading Lucky Score to read Seven and Brynn’s story 🫡
Thank you @chasingbooks.pr for the ARC!!❤️

This book hits you in all the feels. I have a soft spot for goalies. Truly. JP is the one I’ve been rooting for all along. Cammy & JPs story is one where I always hope for the best but prepare for some speed bumps. This book was everything I needed and more.
I’m happy to report I cried only twice during my read.
