Sooooo slow and I just did not care. How wad it even legal for this high school girl to sign an NDA without her parents knowledge? Surely they would have had to have been looped in and they could have prevented all this bullshit to begin with.

Eh. From the blurb I was expecting more of a thriller type vibe with actual danger or action type scenes. This is really more of a mystery. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either.

Storia molto carina, scorrevolissima e piacevole.
Si tratta di un mystery YA poco impegnativo con dei plot twist carini e non completamente scontati.
Mi sono piaciute molto le descrizioni del rapporto fra Ava, Imogen e Goldie, così come quelle del campo e degli odori che vi si possono respirare. L'autrice è stata brava nella creazione delle scene: nella maggior parte dei casi non mancavano di dettagli e sembravano plausibili, veritiere.
La scrittura è riuscita a trasportarmi a Camp Alpine Lake: sono riuscita a immaginare i luoghi, i panorami mozzafiato e la luce del sole che riflette sul lago.
Ho trovato un po' debole, oltre che fastidioso, l'assunto di base da cui parte tutta la storia di Goldie; la ragazza potrebbe essere il personaggio più sottone che io abbia mai incontrato in un libro. Per amore di un ragazzo con cui stava da 6 settimane (sono POCHISSIME !!!) si rovina la vita.
Fastidioso anche il fatto che lei fosse la classica asociale senza amici che acquisisce una personalità solo nel momento in cui l'atleta più popolare della scuola si innamora di lei (anche questo fatto, raccontato troppo velocemente, risulta randomico, forzato e un po' cringe).
Comunque, fra i libri dell'autrice è quello che più mi è piaciuto, sinora! Lettura che consiglio agli amanti del genere. Non c'è nulla di eclatante nè di assolutamente originale, però è ben scritto, tiene compagnia e vola che è un piacere.

Camp Alpine Lake is Goldie Easton's favourite place, her safe haven. Goldie and her two best friends, Ava and Imogen, (who met at camp as kids), are now returning as counselors. Only each girl returns with their own secrets that puts a strain on their friendship. Just as camp is about to start and the kids are due to arrive a dead body is discovered in the lake one morning and it's someone that Goldie knows. Now Goldie is left wondering if Ava had something to do with the death. Could her childhood best friend really be a murderer?
I found the book to be slowish at times and it kind of dragged on for a bit in certain places.
But... as usual due to her writing style you can kind of predict how the story will go; The plot/story will have some random curve balls in guessing who the killer/killers are and you'll know better then to assume the first person that seems to be it, is probably not the killer.
I hated the fact that everyone kept telling Goldie that Heller loved her because he kept telling people he felt guilty for having her take the blame yet he never righted any of his wrongs... This left Goldie believing what exactly? That what she and Heller had was actual true love?
