This book is a gorgeously written look at family in all its complexity. The only reason i didn’t give it five stars is because the romance felt forced and unnecessary.

As a native New Yorker and an Asian American woman I felt seen with all the references but god do I hate all the characters in this book!!! No one was likable but I did feel a bit emotional in the ending. Some of the character’s problems in the book felt resolved in a rushed way? But I guess they’re all a work in progress. Not bad of a book.
emotional reflective sad

Central themes of sisterhood, family troubles, growing pains, and some sensitive topics of mental health, addiction, etc felt really relatable, mid-20s crashout crisis vibes
