Deceit by Katelyn Taylor
3 Star

This DUAL POV Dark Romance introduces us to Skyla, a chronic people-pleaser who suddenly finds herself in a complicated and alluring situation. The story sets up a world where she's pursued by multiple men who are instantly captivated by her. There are hints at a broader plot that could lead to an intriguing journey.

Unfortunately, this one didn't quite hit the mark for me. While it had a lot of potential, I found the balance tipped heavily towards the smut rather than truly developing the overarching plot. If I have to read about her getting her kitty ate one more time…I struggled to get a clear sense of Skyla's personality beyond her people-pleasing nature, as the focus often remained on the immediate, intense attraction from the male characters. The MMCs, however, were more engaging and I found myself more interested in their individual stories.

Despite these points, the ending did leave me curious about what's to come, so I might just pick up the next book to see where the story goes!

This is my second book that I've read by this author and I am obsessed!

I did listen to the audio and it is fantastic! The narrators do a fantastic job of bringing this story to life!

It's giving Lord vibes and I LOVE IT SO MUCH!

We meet our FMC Skyla who has lived in London for most of her life with her aunt when her dad decides to bring her home to Salem where she is to marry. She meets her new fiancé who is of course a huge jerk to her. She brushes him off and then makes a friend. She falls for the coach and then several more men.

I don't want to give too much away but it's so good! The spice is spicy, the plot is plotting, and it's just so good! Oh can we talk about that ENDING THO! OMG GIRL!!

Highly recommend if the Lord series was your jam. You will LOVE THIS!
