I found the author's attempts at companionship with the reader to be cringeworthy and sometimes offensive (who calls grown readers "cupcake"?!).
I also found this to be clearly intended for female homeschooling parents given the many gendered stereotypes the author includes.
I can see this book appealing to a large majority of white female readers, especially American middle-class women, who homeschool.
After reading this book, I did a google search for other reviews and found many instances of BIPOC readers noting problematic interactions with the author via social media, specifically an unwillingness to accept and act on criticism by Black readers.

This book is a lot more inspiration for the family in the think of it then I formation for the newly started. It's not what I need right now
I’m here for the overall message, but felt it was a bit out of touch in terms of most people’s economic situation. Hiring a cleaner, expensive camps, and international trips are so far out of reach for the vast majority of families.
I think this may now be my favorite book on homeschooling (and I’ve read a lot of them)
It’s criticized for a lot of pieces (ie give video games a chance) but I think her point is to let go of control and get out of the box. If we are having fun, and enjoying our experience our kids will too.
Our kids don’t play video games, but we have friends that do and have a lovely family culture. Every family has to be in tune to their own kids and figure out what works for their family!
Julie has hundreds of examples of ways to shake up your homeschool and infuse joy into it. Not all of them will work for all families but maybe some of them will work for your family!
We tried a few of the art ideas and it got my son excited in and delighting to write— HUGE win!!

I loved this book! I’ve been a fan of Julie Bogart and her writing curriculum, Brave Writer, for a few years, so I was thrilled when this book came out. It will be a wonderful resource for me to draw from in my homeschooling. I love the breath of fresh air Julie brings to the learning environment.
A great book for any parent who wants to enrich their children's life at home, not just homeschoolers. Listened to the audiobook and Julie narrates it herself, but there's too much good stuff so I'm going to read a hardcopy and do the companion book on the second time around.
I loved this book! It was realistic, with tangible suggestions and actions to take to improve my homeschooling journey. I listened to the audio, which was read by the author, and it had great verbal engagement and was easy to follow along. Highly recommend!
Just amazing. ✨ Will be coming back to this one time and time again. So insightful, helpful, and encouraging.

A lot of good advice, once or two references to people who frankly sound like they should NOT be homeschooling.
