Goliaths of Wrestling is definitely the gift that keeps on giving because it’s already time for the fourth book in this series !
As we’ve seen in the previous books (which, if you haven’t read yet, I’d advise you strongly to try) Crossbody, a glorious Fae Prince and lover of too short shorts, and Vince, a rollerskating ghoul with a super long tongue, do not like each other. Like, at all. Corey even had to hold court for them because they can’t stand each other.
The only solution ? Well, they have to not talk to each other, simple !
There is just one issue, they can keep themselves separated. And the more they, aheum, meet, the more they understand that this petty feud, might just be a deep, shameful, attraction....

Listen, this book has it all, ennemies to lovers, lots of smut, degradation kink, a “redemption” for a character we did not like much at first,...
False Comeback has less of a strong supporting cast or intrigue as Cheap Heat had so I was afraid it would be “too” centered on the relationship only. BUT I MEAN THROW IN A DEGRADATION KINK AND I’M IN.
The relationship between Vince and Crossbody is so perfect, I loved how they slowly but completely became obsessed with each other. And Vince understands that he may have judged the Fae Prince a bit too quickly...Even if he’s definitely a snob. But the bestest and cutest of snobs.
Don’t think you will not have hilarious moment as well, Lily definitively had fun with this one too. It’s not at Neville’s level (my love.) but a certain supporting character will put his mark on the Goliath universe ....

5 stars - I loved it!

I will admit, I was a little apprehensive about starting this book because I couldn’t see these two getting over their anger at each other to be in a relationship. But, I should know by now to trust Mayne because she really made these two work perfectly together and made one hell of a story.

These two have a hate to love relationship, and I do mean Hate with a capital H. From the very beginning of these series these two have constantly been sniping at each other and have made their feelings about each other known. This is causing tension with the wrestlers and they are being told they have to make up or at least be civil or they will potentially be fired. I will admit, I was very anxious going into this because I knew how much tension there was between these two but it made more sense once we got to know more about their pasts. Also it kept me hooked and I didn’t want to put the book down.

High Lord Crossbody is a royal fae who everyone thinks is kind of pompous but he really isn’t. He just struggles to be a part of the group because he was raised to think he was the best because of his royal status and was never taught how to be normal, especially for the human world. I was very surprised by how quickly my feelings for Crossbody changed and I really ended up loving him.

Vince is a ghoul who is known as the Rolling Rimmer. From the very beginning of this series I found Vince to be a fun and carefree character, except when it came to Crossbody. I liked getting to know more about him and what pushed him into wrestlings. It was great seeing him come to the realization that Crossbody is just like everyone else and isn’t being supported by his family. Also I liked that he repeatedly apologized for his behavior towards Crossbody and actively tried to make things better for him with the other wrestlers.

These two were a fantastic couple in the end but they had to work through their shit first to get there. I was really surprised by how far these two came in such a short amount of time and how strong their bond became. Also their relationship was so freaking steamy!! I was not expecting a dom/sub relationship and man was it so good.

Like all of these books, I love the camaraderie and banter between all the wrestlers. It's always amusing and just so ridiculous. Also it was great seeing how the other couples are doing and how much they are still head over heels about each other. The found family in these books are just perfect and I can’t wait to get to know the new wrestlers now.

Overall, this was just another fantastic book and I really can’t wait for the next one. Also I just loved the Granny Lizard Mafia and Lady Potato.

TW:toxic parents (one emotionally unavailable and manipulative; the other irresponsible and abandoned him with a relative; absent father mentioned); alcohol use;

A harrowing tale which reflects upon the lingering horrors of Frank n Beans

When Lily Mayne announced this book, I was literally jumping out of my seat. This has quickly become one of my favorite series as a comfort read. It's just light hearted and appeals to my sense of humor. I definitely think it's not going to be for everyone because it can be a bit juvenile.

The book is pretty fast paced in spice but slower in relationship progression. The initial start of Vince and Crossbody's relationship was extremely bizarre. It almost felt like it came out of nowhere but I think it did great in slowly transitioning into something more tangible.
There is some dub con in the beginning of the book so I'd definitely keep that in mind if it's not your thing.

Crossbody was so cute which I wasn't expecting at all. I really like how his character turned out. He's extremely naïve due to his upbringing.  He's easily hurt and so he keeps everyone at a distance to prevent further pain.

Vince starts off as a massive dick. While Crossbody comes across snarky, Vince is straight up mean at times. He lets his temper get the better of him. However, I did like how things progressed. He does own up to his mistakes and rectifies them.

The story between the two of them coming from different worlds was great. I loved how it came together by the end. Finally, seedy incubus motel guy is a creep and a sexual harasser. I also could not stop laughing at him and I cannot wait for his book.

I WANT TO KISS LILY MAYNE ON THE MOUTH!!!! how does she manage to eat every single time?? the characters are GANG, it is SO FUNNY (like i’m actually laughing out loud), and the plot is so interesting and well written!
honestly this has probably been my favorite book in the series. vince and crossbody just work SO well together (and wow the spice hits so hard). there were so many omg moments and no way he just said that type things but i loved ALL OF IT!!!!

need more as soon as possible 🤗

These two! Oh my goodness! From five years of hating each other, to actually fighting at work, then comes the hate f**king... These enemies to lovers take quite a while to first realize they don't hate each other, then to admit that they aren't going to get it out of their system with just one more time, and finally discovering real feelings when faced with separation. Along the way, there are plenty of the ridiculously funny scenes this series is known for, but also real growth in the main characters who both come to admit their wrong-doings and actually apologize.
