Homo Deus is quite the thinker of a book! Harari quickly and succinctly outlines the history of humanity leading up to the "humanist" era of today where individuality, democracy, and feelings drive society. Harari argues that "dataism" is the next era and humanity will give more and more control to the data and algorithms that start by making our lives better. Bringing us to the grand question: what role do humans have in the society of the future? Should the universe revolve around humans? What happens when technology can replace manual and mental labor?

This is a great read for anyone interested in societal trends of the next 20-100 years. I'd highly recommend reading it now, because Harari uses frequent references to "today" including predictions of the 2016 US presidential election.
