Ich mag den Schreibstil sehr gerne. Sehr klare Beschreibungen, unter denen man sich auch mehr vorstellen kann als unter „his eyes flared“ oder so :D

A great start to a series. I love when a female protagonist can take care of herself. Rae doesn't have super powers. She has realistic fighting skills and she uses them to survive. She may be a victim of circumstance but she doesn't stay a victim. Gage is sexy and arrogant and I love that she doesn't just fall into his arms. I was not thrilled about the cliffhanger ending but at least it will only be a two month wait. Really looking forward to the next book.

Not sure how I feel about this book. lots of dark drama. She goes with a guy that is obviously not the intended love I Teresa in the book. And when ever she does get with the intended it is short. And the guy drops to "L" word and she is so beaten up mentally she almost skims over it. It was a lost moment. But to have the book be about her struggles and how she is introduced to boxing and how she NEVER takes the easy way out especially anything offered by a man is the interesting part about this book. Not a lot of romance in a traditional way. But feelings are created and lost through hardship.i guess I will rate it 3 stars only because I didn't feel like the couple had a time when both were feeling the same way about each other and expressed it at the same time. I almost wonder if book 2 is going to be more darkness. Questioning if I should continue with the series. I want to see them together. But not sure I want to spend those hours reading to get there.

Outside the Ropes begins when Regan gets attacked one night. She's used to fighting in her life, and this night was no different, but when circumstances land her into the line of sight of some new people things get a little complicated for her. And there's a man who fights just like her that she can't seem to stay away from. but he has secrets, and things start getting more complicated for her.

This book starts out really interesting. I really enjoyed the story line in the beginning and middle. I also enjoyed the heroine as well. She was really good at handling these horrible situations she was put in.

The story started to change somewhat towards the end. I was a little bit annoyed with the turn it took, and a little frustrated with the cliffhanger ending. It annoyed me the way the hero and heroine were acting and what Regan decided to do. I was frustrated, but I still liked the book over all. I'm just not sure I will read more in this series.

I read this book as a rough draft and words cannot describe how good it was. the book pulls you in the whole entire time it's so enticing. you cannot put it down and stop because you have to know what happens. You are put in the book and you are apart of the story line and I can honostly say that I haven't read a book that sucks me in this much in a while. you get mad, sad and happy with the characters and I haven't felt this strongly about a book in a while- definatly a must read.

I can’t believe I put this book off until now! I enjoyed every minute of it! I liked how strong-minded Regan was and how she actually thought about what she wanted and was realistic about situations. She was not like some of the heroine’s we have read about in other stories, she was courageous and took what she wanted. She did not stick to others doing things for her and she was not shy about casual sex. She knew what she did and did not want from others and in a way she was scared of getting too attached. That is why her and Gage’s chemistry and connection was off the charts. The suspense in the story also kept it interesting and I am really excited to read the next one. Suspenseful romances are always really fun stories to read because they keep you at the edge of your seat and you never know what will happen next.

Outside the Ropes is the first book in a new adult sports/crime contemporary romance series by the same name. It is dark, gritty and more violent than I am used to. This book pushed me outside of my normal comfort zone while reading, but I have to say I enjoyed it. I know almost nothing about boxing, but I thought Ashley Claudy made the sport accessible to the reader. Plus there is a lot of action, violence and romance to keep the story moving and to grab your attention.

Regan has had a tough life in the foster system, and Outside the Ropes starts out with her getting jumped on her way home and beat up pretty bad. That should set the tone for the whole story actually. But she survives and as a result she is brought into the world of competitive boxing. She loves it almost immediately, and through this world she meets a whole slew of new people. I really liked the whole cast of characters in Outside the Ropes. Dexter and Gage were obviously my favorites, but I have a soft spot for Anthony too. I know that might seem crazy if you have read the book, but I do. Even though Dexter and Gage are brothers, they could not be more different, which is always fun for me to read. I like a variety of character types in my reads.

I wanted a little more hinting at Gage's interest in Regan early on. At one point in the story, after talking to her only a handful of times, he said something like "well I think you know how much I like you." And I was thinking, really? I don't know that. I mean, I could have guessed because I knew he was going to be the love interest, but I didn't see much interest manifesting on the pages of the story. Now after they had that conversation, I totally saw his interest. (and no it wasn't insta love, nor did they get together at that point, but it was at least obvious that he liked her.)

Outside the Ropes is not the typical story that I read, but I am glad that I read it. I found myself getting caught up in Regan's world. I think fans of gritty stories with fighting and violence will absolutely love this series. And if you are like me, and you like your romance on the fluffy and light side, give this series a try anyway! I think you will enjoy it. I am already itching for the next book.

I really enjoyed the story and the characters. The part I greatly disliked was having to buy a second book to find out what happens between Regan and Gage.

Bonus points for the bad-butt main character with a complete and utter shamelessness towards societies standards!
