Best Laid Plans

Best Laid Plans is the first book I’ve read by LK Farlow, but if this is anything to go by, it definitely will not be the last. This second chance/ best friends sister/ friends to lovers romance ticked every box for me. It was fun and cute, angsty and emotional, sweet and sexy with a smart mouthed, tough heroine and a hot as sin hero.

Alden and Natalie were a complicated whirlwind that left my heart in my throat in moments and had hearts in my eyes the other times. And while their journey wasn't perfect, it was beautifully penned and completely worth every single moment. They gave me all of the feels and a ton of explosive chemistry. I couldn't get through the pages fast enough to get to that happily ever after.

Best Laid Plans kept me totally invested in the story throughout the whole book. It's such a perfect blend of heartbreak, love, new and old relationships and so much more.

DNF at Chapter 24.

uhhhhhh this book is awful and there are SO MANY typos

So I didn't like it much till this point, but soon after Natalie tells Alden that he impregnated her while he was drunk, the way he reacts to that and says that she should have told him about Tatum just made me lose my mind.

THE IMPORTANT THING WAS THAT YOU FUCKED HER DRUNK AND YOU EXPECT HER TO TELL YOU ABOUT THE BABY WHEN YOU COULDN'T EVEN REMEMBER THAT YOU HAD FUCKED HER. WOW, NO.

God, this book made me so angry. I'm fine.

Honestly, this book was just TOO sweet and lovey dovey.
I understand that they had the childhood history, but they moved along too quickly, imo. I don't know if the author doesn't have kids or doesn't remember how 3 year olds act, but Tatum didn't feel authentic.
Maybe this type of romance just isn't for me.

Needed a lighter read after my last book and finished the audio in a day. A lot of reviewers seemed annoyed by the secret love child thing, so I was surprised to find that aspect of the story was addressed fairly early on and I found the reasons said child’s paternity was kept a secret from her father plausible. Got too sappy for me toward the end but a good palate cleanser. I do think the southern accents were over done by both narrators. The woman’s seemed to wax and wane and the man sounded like Col. Sanders at times.

This was an okay book for me. I felt at times the writing was rushed and a bit clunky.
The storyline was solid and strangely, I liked the arguments, I’m glad they weren’t shied away from.
Still, the writing style wasn’t for me, but if you’re after a cute, quick read, maybe give it a go.

3.5 stars?

I love books with kids. Which means I enjoy the secret baby, the accident pregnancy, etc. This one was good. The moments with the new found family were so cute. It wasn't my favorite version of these tropes I've read but I did enjoy it.

I totally fell in love with all of the characters in this book! It was such a fun read with really relatable characters and a totally adorable 3-year old! Couldn't get enough of the story and wanted to keep reading even after I was done! Can't recommend this book more!
