I adored Emma’s Being Brooke, and when she announced that Carly and Zeke would be getting their own story with Catching Carly, the excitement from me was real!
“Zeke Elliott was a mistake. A big mistake. Something I’m very good at. It goes along with the time I wanted to bleach my eyebrows…”
Carly’s antics and personality were hilarious. She never failed at getting a laugh from me. It actually got to the point where my husband started questioning me. LOL! And Zeke—I freaking love him! He was one of my favorite characters from Being Brooke. His story intrigued me. He went through a hard time in a past relationship--it left him a little broken and distant when it came to women. However, when it came to Carly, that never stopped him from pushing her buttons with his teasing or dirty mouth. These two together, I adored them! The tension and their chemistry was off the charts. The dynamic between them had me devouring this book!
“If this kiss is a battle and tongue is his weapon, then his passion is his army. And he’s winning the fight.”
When it comes to romantic comedies, Emma Hart never fails at giving me a book that I end up failing in love with. Her heroes and heroines are some of my favorites. She creates characters like Carly and Zeke, that are so easy to relate to. Catching Carly is an addictive, hilarious story with two characters that stole my heart. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a refreshing, entertaining read!

This sweet little treat to my reading sense is a mix of two of my favorite tropes: best friend’s brother and enemies-to-lovers. And oh what a treat it was. This was full of everything that makes me squee with delight in a rom-com: witty banter, laugh out loud moments and delicious passion. Hart has definitely wormed her way onto my top rom-com authors list with this and Being Brooke. I’ve jumped on the Hart fangirl wagon and I’m making myself comfortable.
Carly is sarcastic, feisty and has no brain to mouth filter. Some of her one-liners had me laughing so hard, my husband thought I was broken (then of course there’s the fact that I spewed wine all over him but we don’t need to talk about that…). She’s had a hate-hate relationship with her best friend’s brother Zeke for years. That is until she tripped and fell on his dick. Truly, it was all an accident. Zeke is cocky, overbearing and sexy. He’s also a whole lot of mistrustful but he has plenty of reason to be. These two are ducking hilarious together. Their banter, sexual tension and chemistry is just the perfect mix for rom-com amazingness.
The characters were well-written and developed. They each had their own strengths and issues. Carly had her vulnerabilities and Zeke had his. I loved that for once it was the guy with the trust issues. Too often it’s the girl that has been burnt and doesn’t want to trust. But trust me, despite his brash attitude; Zeke will steal your heart. This guy has his moments where he gets soft and sweet. And you’ll be fighting off all your book friends to claim him as your new book boyfriend (I’m pretty sure one of mine has already called dibs).
There is a small amount of drama but its low on the angst scale. And I loved seeing all the quirky characters from book one back again. Catching Carly can be read as a standalone but I promise you’ll want to go back and read Being Brooke once you read this one.
If you love rom-coms or are in the mood for a sweet romance that’ll have you laughing out loud, pick this one up today. It won’t disappoint.

You can't hook up with your best friend's brother and just expect to forget to ever happened, especially when you can't get the guy out of your head, or life.
Carly is a little bummed now that her two best friends are finally in a relationship. Sure, she's happy for them, but she's suddenly become the third wheel. If being a lonely third wheel wasn't bad enough, Carly didn't anticipate Zeke Elliot, her best friend's brother, annoyingly pushing his way into her life. And it probably has something to do with the fact that they hooked up a month ago and Carly has regretted it ever since. Except it's a hook up she's very tempted to revisit. Too bad Zeke has been annoying her their entire lives and he's also off-limits being her best friends brother. It seems someone behind the scenes is pulling the puppet strings to get them together, and despite Carly's best efforts, it's kinda working.
After reading the first book in the duology, following Carly's two best friends Brooke and Cain, I was very excited for this book as we kind of got a glimpse at to who Carly's love interest would be throughout Brooke's story. Like Brooke, Carly is such a fun character to follow, and also very relatable. It's actually great to read a story about a character that's normal with a tonne of flaws, instead of those "perfect" main characters you get in the likes of film and television.
Carly and Zeke's road to a relationship with fun, mainly due to the situations they end up in together - it's very rom-com and you can totally imagine these playing out on the big screen. As a rom-com fan I thoroughly enjoyed this aspect of the story.
Coming off the back of the first book, this was a great read. Like with all companion novels, I loved seeing Cain and Brooke's relationship continue to play out in the background, as well as making comments on Carly's relationship with Zeke - it's all fun and games when banter is involved.
I've said it before and I'll say it again - Emma Hart writes fantastic contemporary romances with a good mix of comedy and steamy scenes to keep you invested in these character's lives. If my constant reviewing of her books (she has a lot and they are so good, so of course I'm going to binge all her stuff), hasn't convinced you to pick up her books, I don't know what your doing with your life - get out there and start reading! Being Brooke and Catching Carly are a great place to start on your journey down the Emma Hart rabbit hole.

Took me awhile to remember the characters in this series but once I did the excessive drama was already in full force. Carly Porter was mean...actually, she was a bitch. I'm all for the enemies-to-lovers trope, but without Zeke's POV, I was reliant on Carly's and she came across as being a terrible SOB. She sleeps with her brother's best friend one night but then doesn't want to hear a word of it again. Zeke on the other hand just loves to rile her up. Lots of back and forth between these two, with some parts being witty banter and the other being down right mean.
And there was far too many inner monologues, and a whole lot of miscommunication to make me want to fling my Kindle across the room. All in all, this turned out to be meh and the ending was far too quick. Oh well. Better luck next time.

Wow!!
My rating :
Star : 3.8/5

Carly gets a book!! I was so excited to read this one. I was definitely not disappointed. This just so happens to be one of those funny cases where I loved the sequel more than the first one. I loved everything about this book. The best part was the fact that it never slowed down for me and I never had to stop to reread this one!
Carly was fantastic in the first book. I loved everything about her character. She was hilarious and witty with a twist of genuineness when it came to her friends. My favorite thing about this story was Carly's character and how she develops throughout the book. I love that the characters from the first book were included as well. Zeke's character was exactly how I expected him to be. He was cocky and funny, but it came to romance: swoon.
The chemistry in this book was just as great as the first. The romance was outstanding and something that every reader would dream of. Emma Hart's romance is just beautiful, sexy, and emotional. Everything about the way Carly and Zeke's romance was portrayed was amazing.
There was nothing wrong with this book. I went into this book thinking that it was going to be similar to Being Brooke where I was getting a little lost and having to reread some parts. I'm so glad I was wrong. I'd recommend this series to romance lovers who are looking for a juicy, emotional, quick read. These two were perfect.

Perfect amount of romantic steamy scenes and full out laughs! Can't wait to read more from Emma Hart!

Honestly? I thought it would be better, a little more developed, and in the end I was left with that big "meh" feeling. It's too much like the first one in the series, the characters feel the same... I don't know, it wasn't bad, but just... meh.

Who knew painting a wall would be such Hot foreplay and funny at the same time!!!
Carly and Zeke...they were just amazing. Their love/hate relationship made for a hilarious back and forth filled with intense tension.
After meeting them in 'Being Brooke' I was beyond excited when I learned that Carly and Zeke would get their own book and by god did Emma deliver.
Carly is the kind of friend everyone wants. Sarcastic, loyal, funny and has an awesome dog who has an affinity for humping Zeke. What's not to love??
Zeke, well Zeke was just Zeke! The incredibly hot brother or Carly's best friend, Cain. He brought out the best and worse in Carly and really, just loved to push her buttons right to the tipping point. Their constant back and forth made for amazing foreplay.
I must admit I did find this book a bit slow to get into, but that was down to me being in a bit of a slump going in.
I also have to admit, that I actually preferred Carly's book over Brooke's. I think I just loved the drastic change in her relationship with Zeke and their overall chemistry.
All in all, this was another brilliant book by Emma. An author who just loves giving us quirky and hilarious grandparents. I can't wait to see how she is going to top the oldies from this book.
