When you find out Eric's identity, you will be out here screaming like I did. This book had me laughing out loud. Eric and JJ's relationship is so smoldering hot. Damn! I wasn't a fan of all the contemporary celebrity references but given that the book is set in the fashion world, they were necessary.
From the author that gave us Seven Days in June, Tia has provided us with another tale of black love featuring an older woman. And the movie adaptation is underway. Like, what more could you ask for???
I wasn't obsessed with this book, but I was having so much fun I could hardly out the book down.
Okay, I'll leave you one quote that had my heart squeezing;

"I don't want these clinical, awkward setups. I don't feel like doing this twenty more times. I can't imagine meeting my soulmate through an interview process. I want to know without words. I want fall so violently that I risk breaking into a million pieces. I want to love so desperately it's indecent. I want it to be wild and fated and forever. A no choice connection."

I absolutely loved Tia William’s most recent novel, Seven Days in June and I knew that I had to pick up the novels on her backlist too. If you’ve read The Idea of You, you will be familiar with The Perfect Find’s synopsis. After forty-year-old Jenna Jones hits rock bottom, she begs for a job from her arch-nemesis, Darcy Vale. What Jenna doesn’t expect is to start developing feelings for Darcy’s twenty-two-year-old son.

The Perfect Find is fabulously juicy and consists of quite a bit of fashion lingo that was fun to read. William’s writing is unbeatable and extra fun, though The Perfect Find doesn’t pack the same punches as Seven Days in June. Despite this, The Perfect Find is steamy, a joy to read, and is great if you are craving something a bit lighter.

I think I should have read this before Seven days in June.

This book follows Jenna, who at 40 has upended her life and started to work with one of her rivals. The only problem is that she needs to make a perfect web series to keep her job and the man who's videoing the whole thing is Eric, her rivals son and someone Jenna finds a little too irresistible.

In terms of characters, I found everyone fairly likeable, I thought that the side characters were better but that may just be my thing against main characters. Although I did love Eric as a love interest. I was not however a big fan of the dialogue at all, it annoyed me, not to the point I stopped reading the book but I was still very annoyed.

I did feel very convinced about the romance. Sometimes there's an issue of romance feeling very instalove but this wasn't an issue here. It did feel very natural and gradual and I enjoyed that a lot.

The ending was very Tia Williams, I can't complain because I was kind of expecting it but I wasn't a fan of it at all. Despite that I did think it made sense, it didn't feel out of place or out of character which I think is great.

Overall, it was just okay, I think if I read this first I would have enjoyed it a lot more because Seven days in June was so damn good but I still enjoyed it.

no bc why was this so cute, funny, witty, charming, sexy and slightly heartbreaking but satisfying all at once???? 🥺🤧💛

Deducting half a star bc I didn’t care for the ending (I hateeee that trope); I saw the event coming but didn’t see it unfolding the way it did and I was somewhat ok with the way it unfolded.
