This was such a lovely book. It has everything that makes middle grade so wonderful, without being childish. Stunning world building as well. And Jacques is my favorite!

This books jumped around so much it was hard to follow. And things happened with very little explanation out of the blue. It was not my favorite.

This is an adventure tale for 8-12 year olds- involving parallel worlds, interesting mythical creatures, and destiny- Think The Golden Compass This is a great ride, full of fun, suspense, laughter, and heart. Two leads a boy and a girl trying to save the magical world from perishing, one from our world and one from a more magical one. This would be a great gift book for this age range because it has a little of everything and it would be lovely to read with your child. It's also great for an animal loving kid as there is a whole glossary of all the ones you meet along the way at the end plus tons of beautiful illustrations. There is going to be a second one, but it could stand a lone.
