Wow this was a great book 2 there was so much hurt at the end of book 1. I'm so happy how this book picked up right where the first one ended. I felt so bad that Hayden was hurting so bad but I'm happy that it worked out in the end! I love Hayden and Tenley!!!!

“Please don’t leave me. Not again. Please. It hurts too much to be without you. I don’t know how.”
Inked Armor is everything that I disliked in the previous book, Clipped Wings. My connection to the characters was still limited, however it grew slightly by the end of Inked Armor but not enough to make me truly care about their outcomes.
What I truly hated about these books is the characters’ coping mechanisms. Using aggressive sex to avoid talking about feelings and overcoming emotional issues is all the characters do, especially Hayden. This coping mechanism then creates some serious insecurities and relationship issues. Hayden and Tenley’s relationship isn’t what I would call healthy, although I’ve read unhealthier relationships. I also wouldn’t rate a book negatively because the relationship featured isn’t healthy. Unhealthy relationships exist in real life and most healthy relationships have some unhealthy aspects. So, what ultimately made me dislike these characters together was their lack of growth as individuals and as a couple. Their unhealthy habits are what prohibit this growth making their relationship difficult to enjoy reading about.
Overall, Tenley and Hayden’s story is not a romance that I enjoyed. The characters are devoid of any personal and emotional growth and rely heavily on unhealthy coping mechanism to deal with their very traumatic pasts. There isn’t much to be gained from their relationship, other than sitting through two insecure individuals dealing with their personal problems that affect their relationships.

In Inked Armor, we get the rest of Hayden and Tenley’s journey to love and healing. While this book is quite a bit darker than Clipped Wings, I think it was necessary to really appreciate the resolution once we get there.
On top of the overarching theme of healing, I love that she showed some of the preconceived stereotypes that people deal with when they don’t conform to society’s idea of normal. Whether it’s tattoos or piercings, I do believe that people with body modifications are treated differently and, in some cases, even completely overlooked. She tackles this topic head-on, and it was perfect!
A few other things:
✔️Can someone please tell me how this woman manages to make cupcakes sexy AF?
✔️There was more angst than I normally like but I was so attached to the characters that I didn’t mind.
✔️I love everything about Hayden and Tenley. Everything! Their honesty with each other in this one really got me.
✔️I really enjoyed all the side characters and am looking forward to reading Chris and Sarah’s story!
✔️Reading these books has me wanting tattoo number 4, but I have no idea what I want!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
