Sooo much delicious pining. The MMC is such a cinnamon roll and the FMC is a true badass. Seeing the male character treated like a potato sack was also really refreshing. I never knew I needed this premise in my life, but I am cursing the wait at my library for the next one.

This book was a joy to read! The wiring style made for an easy to read book while the plot pulled me in and the characters made me not want to put it down before I finished it.

I loved reading how Lucían and Glory developed as characters and in their relationship as well. After finishing this one, I instantly went ahead and purchased the second book of this duology. So I'm gonna start reading that now and will probably write a larger review about the story as a whole when I finish that one.

This book has one of the sweetest, most mature, and most realistic love story I’ve ever encountered. The book deals with heavy topics, but always in a loving and caring way. The characters are so lovable, and so complex. The world itself is very intriguing, and I hope we get to see more of it in the next book!

A small, shy monk paired up with a tall, buff warrior woman? It feels like the author wrote this especially for me because that is so far up my alley it’s ridiculous. Lucían is the sweetest cinnamon roll ever and Glory is so kind and patient with him as he discovers the world outside his monastery. There’s a lot of exploration of religious bigotry and sexual shame, which I thought was sensitively handled.

The pace was a little slow and meandering, especially at the beginning, but I loved the slow-burn tension between Lucían and Glory so much that I didn’t even mind that much. I love a road-trip trope and this was basically the fantasy version of that. Loved all the casual queer representation too, including Glory herself.

This is a duology but this book ended on a solid HFN, no real cliffhanger in terms of the romance.

I really enjoyed this small medic cleric man exploring a bigger world that his definitely not buff tall bi/pan wife has helped him get to! The struggles he has feel really big and real while living in a very fantasy world.
