One thing I've enjoyed about Carly Spade's characters is that they are all different. Harmony "Harm" is a completely different character from the previous two characters in the series books. Now, Harm is a different character from what I typically expect in Greek retelling stories and I liked it. She had this uniqueness that make her likable because she had a hard life and was used to taking care of things on her own. Seeing her grow as a person, and relate to someone else was entirely fun! Mars was a complex character who deep down (VERY deep down) has a heart and having him grow fond of Harm was entertaining!
This story is more violent than the previous one; it is about the God of War, and the main character is an MMA fighter.
I enjoyed the narrator, she did a good job with the voices and the characters. She added inflection to her voice for the talking parts and I thought that was a nice touch.
This is the third in a series, but can be enjoyed as a stand alone! I'd recommend the others because they are just as enjoyable as this one!

Epic Story!
This book was a great read, because of the world building, characters, dialogue, and just plain coolness. This is the 3rd book in the series and I can’t wait to read more!

I loved the first two books in this series, so when the author offered me the third for review, I was happy to accept!
I'll admit, this one is the first four star of the bunch. But that's likely due to my own personal biases than anything else. Because of the god involved in this installment, there's a lot of emphasis on anger and fighting. As someone who spends most of their professional life de-escalating big emotions, it made for a slightly more disquieting read.
I might have mentioned before, but I'll say it again that this series is not one for mythology purists. There are some changes made to the canon for the sake of the current story (Aphrodite and Hephaestus aren't married, and Ares never slept with Aphrodite) but it still keeps a lot of the little details that a lot of other mythology stories may leave out.
The relationship itself was definitely the most charged and passionate out of the three so far. The chemistry was definitely there and I enjoyed how the world building continues to add on top of each other, with more gods and goddesses being introduced. (Personally, I appreciated the mention of Hestia.) The fighting aspect was also clearly well-researched, even if I didn't understand the majority of the terminology.
This can be read as a standalone, but the easter eggs are more fun to see if you read them in order. Otherwise you might get confused as to why the goddess of the Underworld is named "Stephanie." Still, it's a great pick for a romance read. Plenty of angst and steamy scenes to be had.

The War God is Hot!!

Ares/Mars and Harm/Harmony are a beautiful couple. I love how well they complimented and calmed each other. A roller coaster of emotions went through me as I turned each page. I’m loving this series!
I do need to say that Ares with Cerberus is my favorite *heart eyes*

Yep, this series is definitely my guilty pleasure. I can't explain it but I am having such a good time with this series!
On a more serious note, I feel like with every book her writing becomes better and more refined.
I do have one gripe... Harm should not own -or even consider owning- an Iron 883. As someone who works for Harley Davidson, that bike is WAY too small for her. I can only imagine Ares is a big dude and all I have to say is I feel so bad for the suspension...
