Pros:

I really have always loved Ares. From first seeing him as only a character on Xena Warrior Princess to reading mythology something about him drew me in. I love the direction the author took here with how the changes we’ve made to war would change how useful the god of it would feel.

It seemed very powerful and important to show that unbalanced war is chaotic and destructive but war of any kind brings with it change. When it is balanced with understanding and wisdom that change can be good. I’m glad that Ares is finally getting a balancing partner for love and support.

Cons:

While I loved this book as much as the others in the series I don’t have much understanding of fighting. So, the way the author can paint an action scene into a mental movie just didn’t work for me here as it has in other contemporary Mythos novels. That is a shortcoming for me not the book. I also really wish I had translations for all the Greek.

Now this was a fun one, it looks like we’re getting even more in depth with the Greek gods in modern times! I’m very curious to see where this will go next, Harm and Ares were a fascinating couple to read about.

This series is such fun! Each book is so unique! This book follows Ares and Harm, and Harm is a professional fighter (Ares is too and also a bodyguard, subtle my man). I feel that with Harm, we got a great look into why she fights, where her anger comes from, etc. which was something I felt wasn't as well done in the last book. I enjoyed how both her and Ares's anger was addressed and how their instinctive violent reactions were explained but not necessarily justified (sometimes it was necessary). I loved how his godly role was explained and how he wasn't the god of destruction. Really cool perspective. Poor Harm is put through the ringer in this story by the gods/goddesses but she stands her ground so well. Their romance was well done and I love how Hades continues to be tied in here and there. I would love a story about Dionysus, he is such a great guy in this story!

Harmony “Harm” Makos has always felt anger and fear and used them as her fuel to drive her through her life and to her goal of MMA champ. When a threat on her life lands her in the hands of Mars, a bodyguard with an anger issue, she’s livid. As time goes on and she forces him to open up to her there’s a pull to him that she can’t quite grasp. Plus she’s been hearing and seeing sounds and visions of war…….

Loved this one! Harm and Mars complement each other so well and the forced proximity is just top notch!
