I decided not to finish the book after reading about the fat shaming that was soon to occur. I had already had enough of Appalling Ned anyway.

I did like the narrator.

Love the narrator! She’s got different voices for all the characters so it brings them to life!
But story-wise, it is not what the cover depicted it to be. Laugh out loud? Once in a while maybe, but I don’t see it that funny. The story’s a bit silly, to be honest, for one thing, most of the characters are too peculiar to be real, which, of course, makes the story too fake to relate to. Then a lot of the characters around the heroine, Emma, are not very nice, only a few which she really likes tend to be nice people. Emma is also quite annoying sometimes because she’s always accusing others when she doesn‘t even know that much about them. Besides, I don’t really feel the romance there, although she does mention that while she was busy doing some other things, she falls in love with Joe, still it is just not convincing.

I didn't actually finish this book but I didn't like it so I stopped reading it. I might try and finish it one day because I spent 99p on it and if I can get through "The Girl With No Home" I can get through anything.

Cheesy, slightly predictable, but everything a good chick lit should be.

1. Really liked the humour. It's quite naughty and very British.
2. I always love a good chick lit set in the UK.
3. Loved the characters, they were really fun! Emma's young cousins were hilarious - especially Archie. Emma had such a wacky family.
4. Actually some suspense as to who Emma would end up with. Oooo that Ned guy! So cheeky!

Good example of classic rom-com. Warm and fuzzy etc etc.

this book is crowded and so busy trying to be everything that it ended up being all over the place. having too many characters in your story could only work if you know how to write them into an ensemble and work it into the main character's story without stealing the spotlight from your heroine.
sadly in this one, despite spending every chapter with the heroine and almost 80% of the book was dedicated to her 'journey', by the end i thought that she was flatly written and having two secondary characters had more colors in their characterization really does not bode well.
also i was sorely disappointed by the very minimal romance because strangers-housemate-friends-lovers arc is one of my fave!
