Ha! That is why I don't go shopping! I don't like crowds and chaos when I need to get stuff done. I agree with Llama Llama on throwing a tantrum to make a point.
A very understanding and wonderful mother with a very cute child.
This was a big winner with the preschool set. All of them could relate to being completely fed up with shopping, and they love Llama's temper tantrums. Practice reading this to yourself a couple times before reading it out loud, though, or the rhyme and meter might not scan quite right.
I like Llama Llama Red Pajama just a little better, but this one is a keeper.

This is a super cute book I read in a doctor's office.
Llama Llama is busy playing when Mama says it is time to go shopping and he doesn’t want to go. He gets progressively grumpier until he acts out and his temper flares and he dumps everything out of the shopping cart. Main message is probably how do we handle ourselves when we need to do something we don’t necessarily WANT to do.
Rhyming makes it feel targeted at a younger crowd. Probably best for K-1. Some things to discuss would be how you can prevent losing your temper.

A quick, fun read to my Lil G. Equal parts silly and instructional, the rhyming lines and bright illustrations tell us what happens when Little Llama gets bored at Mama Llama's errands and throws a tantrum. And most importantly, that Mama loves him even when he's being not on his best behavior.
The Llama Llama Netflix series is a favorite in our house, so when we recently took a trip to the library, Amelia had to take home a copy of Llama Llama Mad at Mama. The episode based on this book was one she actually watched recently, so having the ability to compare the two was great and helped her to call back to things she'd seen.
A quick read, this book succinctly paints a picture of having to do things you don't want to do and how to resolve the upset that those things may bring, both for children and parents.

Turns out, my husband knows this author- they're from near the same town in Vermont. I'm hoping my mother in law will surprise us with an autographed copy of Llama Llama Red Pajama. :)
