This emotional book absolutely captured my heart. It’s sad but also hopeful, with the most darling characters. The relationships they form are so heartwarming and feel so true. If I had to find something wrong, it’s the rather cavalier treatment of marriage. The narration is fantastic, expertly capturing all the accents and intonations and delivers all the feeling too - especially joy. Just lovely.
Perfect cozy novel set mostly in the highlands of Scotland during Christmastime. I loved the mash of characters and the sweet stories that played out. It transported me to lovely little village of Creagan covered in snow and preparing for Christmas. It was a tad long and detailed but nonetheless a great seasonal read!

A tragedy leads to five people finding themselves together for the Christmas holidays in an estate house near Creagan in Scotland. Their lives will end up forever changed. This book is about love, finding your way again after tragedy, and the chance encounters and unexpected paths that we find ourselves on in life.
The characters are multidimensional and richly drawn. The book is told in the alternating perspectives of the five main characters. I know I will be thinking of the characters for awhile; I miss them already! I was hoping to find that there is a sequel to this book, but I guess there isn’t. There is a movie based on the book, and apparently, a sequel to that movie.
