This book was utterly predictable. I loved it. It was like sitting with a nice tea in front of a roaring fire, wrapped up in blankets. Nothing momentous happens. It's just a lovely story with lovely people.

I read a bunch of Rosamunde Pilcher novels right after I graduated from college because I needed something light. She has a talent for writing about human emotions and relationships. I don't think I could read any of her books a second time, but they weren't bad the first time around.
A sweet story where the good people are very good, the bad people are very selfish, and other people conveniently die leaving an appropriate bequest for the nice people. That said, I liked it. English and Scottish towns, gentle townfolk, and all’s well in the world.
