I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I'm so glad I chose it for my Christmas read. While it isn't a life-changing story, it is a story of hope and perseverance. It had a lovely cast of characters and a wonderful optimism that boosted my Christmas mood. On some level, I didn't want it to end because I enjoyed the characters and the setting so much.
Audiobook. The audio of this book was lovely. One review I read described this as cozy but not much happened, which is about right. I appreciated the setting (Scotland at Christmas) but it took quite a while for this book to get going.
I felt the writing was done well and descriptive…however the ending left much to be desired. At the very least, an epilogue to tidy up all of the various story lines would have made this book better.
I picked this as a feel-good Christmas read. Plenty of snow, food, decoration, and the gentle healing of restorative relationships. A sweet read for dreaming of northern hemisphere Christmas-time.
