De beslissing van Meghan en Harry om afstand te nemen van de koninklijke familie vond ik een interessante gebeurtenis. Het was een groot, mondiaal iets waar mental health een grote rol in speelde.
Dit boek was al langer in de maak. Maar toch had ik verwacht dat de periode na de geboorte van hun zoon en de aanloop naar deze beslissing de overhand zou hebben in dit boek, de zoektocht naar hoe ze het anders willen en hoe ze hierop uitkwamen.
Dit boek schetst meer de situatie vanaf het begin. Hierdoor wordt het wel duidelijk waar de emmer allemaal mee gevuld is voordat hij overloopt, maar toch voelt het aan het einde een beetje snel. Zo ging het misschien ook wel, denk ik, afgaand op hoe het in het boek omschreven wordt. Maar toch voelt het afgeraffeld ten opzichte van de eerdere delen in het boek. Misschien wilden ze snel genoeg na de gebeurtenis publiceren dat het nog verser bij de mensen in het geheugen zou zitten?
Anyway, het was vermakelijk licht leesvoer voor 's avonds, een alternatief op een tijdschrift lezen of een serie kijken. Maar niet superbijzonder.

I'm going to preface this by saying I'm probably biased towards Meghan.
This book is excellent. It is well written and it flows wonderfully. It makes a reader not only realize about feel empathy towards them (especially Meghan) and what they had to endure. The British tabloids and press were brutal towards Meghan and completely unfair and uncalled for. And while this book doesn't touch on it, the British press is absolutely racist and Meghan wasn't and isn't their only victim. Meghan isn't the first non white in the aristocracy in Great Britain (she is the first in the royal family). One of the more modern ones who was if I remember correctly, of asian decent, talked about how racist her peers and people were.

It was ok. If you feel the need to read mindless celebrity gossip then this book fits the criteria. They are after all, the most talked about royal couple at the moment. But I feel I’d gain more from reading about royal family from the past, not current times.
This book is so poorly written with such a pandering and condescending tone that I needed to skip large sections. 2 stars because my family enjoyed reading it aloud and laughing at the sheer absurdity of it.
Really 3.5-4 stars but I’m bumping it up to 5 to counteract the 1 star reviews from trolls who didn’t read the book
yikes a bunch of people who met Megan and harry maybe once spilling “secrets” - remind me why I read this entire thing again?
I liked the book. The timelines within each chapter was a little confusing but I figured it out. There seems to be a lot of hate for two people 99% of the world will never meet. It was nice to hear the truth about stories that never seemed to make sense and sounded over the top. I am most intrigued by things that were hinted at but were left unsaid. Maybe that will be another book?
2020 had been a dumpster fire of a year and this was an easy read about an unlikely couple who fell in love and started a life together. I’d recommend it as a beach read.
