Let’s be real...is this all true? No. Is this everything I wanted anyways? Absolutely. Megan & Harry 4EVA

I really enjoyed seeing the true side of the Sussex story. I think the authors did a great job getting facts and being thorough.

Erm, this was very bad

This book could have also been called “In Defense of Meghan Markle.” Parts of it I’m convinced were ghost-written by her. There are so many intricate details that literally no one else would know. The authors claim they did lots of interviews with various people and I’m sure they did, but you won’t convince me that Meghan and Harry weren’t VERY involved in this book.

The authors shed light on some behind-the-scenes things we never knew happened and also fleshed out situations that we saw only partly play out via the media. I liked that aspect of it. And I liked learning more about Meghan and Harry individually and together.

But this book also (perhaps accidentally!) makes them come across extremely self-absorbed. I found myself rolling my eyes and wanting to say “get over yourselves!” I personally can’t stand when famous people complain about being famous and there’s a lot of that in here.

I really love Prince Harry and Meghan’s relationship and I wish they could have continued on as “senior working royals”. But I 100% understand why they left and don’t blame them at all. This book makes me think differently about that departure though - which I wasn’t expecting. I also come away liking William and Kate a LOT less, but liking Prince Charles more. (Also, Meghan’s family is the literal worst!!!)

I recommend this book if you’re into the royal fam like I am, but also maybe read another book that isn’t soooooo pro-Meghan and Harry. This book doesn’t feel like a completely accurate re-telling.

Disappointing read. Felt very cringe most of the time.

Seemingly well-researched, but not the explosive book it was made out to be by the press. However, a good timeline for following all of the events of 2016-2020 for the Sussexes. Worth the read for those with royal interest.

I normally love biographies and historical books but I wasn’t convinced by the tone and writing of this book. Given how the tabloids depicted the Sussexes in the last two years, I understand why the authors went for a super-flattering tone with this book, in an attempt to somehow balance the scales.

However, I believe the good the Sussexes have done so far didn’t need such a pompous writing style to be showcased.

If you want to learn more about the Sussexes, I’d recommend it (although the flattery is really too much at times) but beware the writing is not good and makes the read more difficult than it should be. If you listen to the audiobook, increase the reading speed: having done so, I still learnt a lot about them, without having to endure the writing for the full 10 and a half hours.

*Important note - if the one start reviews are making you hesitant to read this book, ignore those because as you'll see after reading the reviews, they all seem to be written by people who are openly racist and don't like strong women*

I love learning about the royals and especially love Meghan Markle. This book helped me understand the harsh reality of having to live as a royal, being expected to follow outdated traditions, being harassed by the paparazzi, and dealing with so many racists. Harry and Meghan didn't handle every situation perfectly, but it seems as if every decision came from a place of care for each other and Archie. It was heartbreaking to read of the racism and harassment Meghan received. Learning more about their relationship and love for each other just made me root for them more. They have an unconventional love story, but I hope they've truly found the happiness and freedom they want and deserve.

A love letter to Meghan Markle written by Meghan Markle.

Fuller review to come... maybe.
