I enjoyed the adventure aspect of the story but struggled to connect with the couple and how to like Violet, because she is too much of a brat in the beginning of the story. She is so naive thinking nothing will happened to her in a boat full of men. But she evolves through the book and acknowledges her privileges. And she's ready to put the work and mastermind the 'art' of pilling potatoes for example.
Captain Asher Flint was an interesting character, like all self-made men, with a very trouble past.

More than the couple, it's the adventure I enjoyed the most. The cover it's misleading, because it's very much a piracy book (contrary to Gentle Rogue by Johanna Lindsey which was such a disappointment in that regard). Here we have a storm and a battle, and the heroine being reckless but also feisty with the hero losing his shit around her. And we have a nice casting of secondary characters, some that might come back in next books.

Also this book helps to get a bigger picture about Lyon, and his love for Olivia which is responsible for the all dispute between their families. But I liked that for love he went to fight some evil, and found himself in the process. I'm curious to discover his book, which is the last one of the series.

I liked the bits in various parts on the north french coast, as I come from Brittany, but I didn't enjoy the various errors of the french language. I never understood how it's such a struggle to find one person who can speak french to easily correct them. I volunteer as tribute if need be.

Romance 3.5 but story 4. Liked the relationship between siblings and the teasing of Lyon's story the best.

I like this one better but it drops a HUGE mystery into the series.

My favorite in the series so far! it's been ages since I've read a high-seas story!

The series ... just isn't doing it for me. I'm drudging on but that's exactly what it feels like. Drudgery. :(

I love Julie Anne Long's books and though I went through The Palace Of Rogues series in order, it was the opposite for the Pennyroyal Green books - I didn't wait to read 9 books to find out Lyon and Olivia's story
