The first half of the novel, about the foibles of a group of unpleasant teens enrolled in a prestigious school for the arts, had moments of sharply biting insight and humor. The second half of the novel, in which those teens have grown into even more unpleasant adults, was convoluted and frustrating.

I almost gave up on this, but about 1/3 of the way through it got super interesting. It seems like one of those books that's meant to be read twice, so I'll probably go back to it again at some point. When I'm ready though because to say it was gut-wrenching is putting it mildly!

This book came to me at the right time. Loved the playfulness with language and truth—Hamlet meets Glee meets Oklahoma from Euphoria? Might have been a 5 if the ending wasn’t so sloppy.

I wanted to love this book so much more than I did and that is not the authors fault, it’s so eloquently written and fresh, BUT I kept seeing the teacher from Victorious instead of Mr. Kingsley

Felt like my whole drama school career was put to paper, and then it became an entirely different book in the second half and I didn’t really feel that voice as much as the first voice.

I just could not get into it. I found the characters boring and inconplex.

Well, I understood the individual words but it was utterly rubbish
