sjældent jeg kan lide sequels hvor man følger andre karakterer, men da jeg tog en pause med den her bog, savnede jeg karaktererne. og mysteriet er rigtig interessant

He looked like the sin of angels, like the sweetest fruit at the goblin market, and Nathaniel despised everything about him.

The fog, the forests, the enemies, the extended Saint Sebastian metaphors. The most delightfully pulpy, most unabashedly Victorian, Victorian romance that I've ever read.

Oh yes, a great second book in this trilogy.
It did start a bit slow but wound up to a tense read while progressing the earldom story and giving us a great cliff-hanger ending - and only got to wait til October for the conclusion.
You get a good feel of how precarious life was for the have nots - one misstep and here is the gutter - and how hard it was to keep what little you had. The fog was almost like a character itself and admirably described.
Nathaniel and Justin had a good antagonistic start to their relationship with Nathaniel out to expose Justin as a charlatan.
Roll on book 3!

An enemies to lovers stories - Nathaniel seeks to discredit Justin( a self-proclaimed seer) and write the story for his newspaper. But outside circumstances involving Clem and his family grow to envelop the two and bring them together to help each other.
This book didn't grab me like the first but I still loved the pictures that K.J. Charles drew of London and England at that time. I could taste the foul smog and envisage the narrow carriageways and then the glorious countryside.
Look forward to the next and hopefully the uncovering of the mystery.
