Hockey Hottie...
Another Nikki Hall Hockey book that I am obsessed with!
Reece is your stereo-typical jock party boy. But, with the team captain position up for grabs, he is determined to prove to the coach he can leave the party lifestyle behind and become a leader.
Kenzie is the rival hockey player's ex-girlfriend. 1 party, 1 ex-boyfriend, 1 jealous sorority sister, and 2 fated meetings lead Kenzie and Reese into fake relationship land.
Meeting Kenzie unleashes Reese's inner golden retriever, and he falls hard and fast for Kenzie. He supports Kenzie in her journey to become a stronger woman; letting her grow into someone who can take charge and take care of her own future.
Add in spicy banter,

We're back at TU. This time we're with another one of our amazing hockey boys Reece. Its our usual chaotic mess, along with quacks from Sunny
Let me start this off by saying I have been waiting since July of last year (after reading Ice Cold Heart) for this book and it was worth the wait! I devoured it in one sitting and I could not help smiling like an idiot and kicking my feet like a schoolgirl. I love Reece and Kenzie dare I say as much as I love Gavin and Eva. I loved Reece since the first book and I knew when we were finally able to dig deeper into him, it would make me giggle and blush like a dork.

5 stars 3.5 spice - This is Reece’s story. With Gavin gone, he’s decided he wants to be the captain. He ends up hooking up with a stranger, Kenzie, at a party. One who runs scared immediately after. That night Kenzie found her boyfriend Toby cheating with 2 other women. Toby is the creepy teammate who helped drug Avery. A week later, they run into each other at Kenzie’s sorority. They decide to fake date in order to get payback for Kenzie and the captaincy for Reece.
Reece doesn’t date ever, no repeat hookups either. But it turns out, he’s an excellent boyfriend to Kenzie. They build a real friendship that is super supportive despite lots of negative gossip around campus. Their feelings grow as he helps her cross things off her fun list. The trip to the pet charity was so romantic and sweet.
I love how the roommates step up to support Reece. The friend group makes the book believable. Sunny the duck is hilarious. I also like how the group rallies around Kenzie toward the end against Toby. Eva helps Kenzie own her power.
The family dynamics are complicated. Kenzie’s mother is so unsupportive throughout as she holds on her dream of Kenzie marrying Toby. She’s very dismissive of Kenzie’s feelings and aspirations apart from Toby. Reece’s Gran is equally as bad. I enjoyed the dinner where he stands up for himself.
Mase’s book is definitely set up in this story. He’s such an enigma. Can’t wait to learn more about the brooding goalie.
Overall, I binged this in one sitting. Highly recommend if you like golden retriever hockey players and cinnamon roll nerdy girls. A lot of the previous characters are included in this book, so it would be best enjoyed after reading the first two books.

I received an advance copy for an honest review.
I loved this book. I didn’t want to put it down. In the previous two books of the series, Reece comes across as a bit of a shallow playboy, but we see glimpses here and there of something more. His care for sassy Henry, his respect for ball busting Eva, his concern for a reclusive and withdrawn Mase. Each start to reveal that Reece is a man who cares more deeply than he lets others see.
Kenzie is the epitome of a people pleaser. She’s spent her life smothering her own wants and desires to avoid confrontation. After a situation that forces her to take notice, she’s ready to start living life on her terms.

I loved this book!
As with the rest of Nikki’s books based at TU, the characters are fantastic. Reece and Kenzie were perfect together, loads of prior book characters feature throughout, plus there is more ducky goodness. 🦆
There was also a good plot line which brought loads of character development for the MCs.
Can’t wait for Mase’s book to be released next year after the glimpse chapter!
