Fierce Femmes and Notorious Liars: A Dangerous Trans Girl's Confabulous Memoir by Kai Cheng Thom
ejkimberley's review against another edition
5.0
A lovely fairy tale of a young transwoman exploring herself and trying to find out who she can be in the world. With the world itself being a place in many ways like our own, but imbued with elements of magic and fantasy. A really unique work which in many ways reads like YA fantasy, but doesn't shy away from portraying (mediated and transmuted through a fairy tale lens), trans spaces and experiences much like those we find in the real world.

First, thank you to Queer Liberation Library. This was an audiobook I listened to on Libby.
It's taken me so long to write anything about this book because I've been so busy, but I haven't stopped thinking about it since I started reading it. I was so excited to take my walk every day so I could listen to this absolute and nothing short of a masterpiece. I don't even have a lot to say about it except that it's perfect. It changed my life in ways I understand right now and in ways I'll understand years from now.
It doesn't matter if it's true, it only matters what it started within the reader, and for me, it started something big.

just loved this, the writing was unlike anything i’ve read before, mixing autobiographical with realistic fantasy

Beautiful. Cute. Brutal. Poetry like. Very unique I have not enough words.
Graphic: Emotional abuse, Injury/Injury detail, Police brutality, Dysphoria, Violence, Bullying, and Physical abuse
Minor: Sexual assault, Self harm, Sexual violence, and Racism
There are descriptions of swarms of bees and violent transphobia
