Ursula K. LeGuin can do no wrong, IMO. I swear I highlighted half of this book. “An ambiguous uptopia” really sums it up.

Still don't know what exactly to say about this book, but it was an interesting exploration of the implications of how different societies both shape and are shaped by the people who participate in them.
I'm gonna ruminate on it for a little bit and then later do a more thorough review.

First Le Guin, what a fantastic first book to read by her! Extremely interesting reflection on politics and revo utionary action, even in a post-cold war world. Huge recommendation!

This is the first of the Hainish Cycle that I read while really paying attention (the only other was in HS, and I unfortunately didn't give it the time I should have), and it was great! I picked it up on a whim, not knowing what to expect and was surprised to find it was a lot about anarchy. In some ways it's very political and philosophical, so if you like somewhat slow-paced, contemplative books, this might be for you. This has convinced me to try the other Hainish Cycle books.
