Ahhh! My heart! I absolutely loved listening to this audiobook. It's the first book in Jennifer Sucevic's new hockey romance series and it absolutely stole my heart! I adored getting to know Steele & Lilah through out this book. The tension between Steele & his girl Lilah was phenomenal & off the charts! Steele fell hard for her. I'm talking pining, cracking the ice on the rink hard falling! When they give in to the tension??? 🥵 HOT 🥵!!!!!!! It was all perfection in the best way. Jennifer Sucevic just carved herself a spot on my must read everything they write list. I can't wait for the next book in the series to drop.
Vanessa Edwin did a fantastic job narrating Lilah. I could feel the emotions and chemistry rolling through the audiobook. A beautiful choice! And, Christian Fox? HOW HAVE I NOT LISTENED TO HIM MORE!? His performance of Steele left me in a literal puddle! He absolutely brought it and left it with a mic drop! These two narrators were epically paired and I'll for sure be listening to this one again!

Lilah, a lawyer, was pressured into a relationship with her ex-boyfriend by her parents. She has been best friends with Steele since college, who gave her the nickname "Lucky Charm."
Steele, the captain of the Chicago Railers hockey team, has quietly loved Lilah since their freshman year of college and will always be there for her in any way she needs him.
What Lilah's boyfriend did to her was both heartbreaking and infuriating. Fortunately, Lilah has Steele to support her in the aftermath. Steele is such a sweet guy; he convinces her to move into his place and become his assistant. What makes it even sweeter is that he knows all of her favorite things. That alone says so much about him.
The way they labeled their intimate relationship as "friends with benefits" bothered me a little. When two people are as close as they are, they should be completely honest about their feelings. I understand their reasoning, but I still don't think it was the right thing to do.
When a picture is taken out of context, he is determined to protect her, even if it means risking his career. On the other hand, she is just as committed to protecting him by setting the record straight. They are truly perfect for one another.
They navigated many challenging situations by being there for each other and genuinely wanting to do what was right. He is especially supportive when she wants to make changes in her career. This demonstrates what true love is all about.

I do enjoy a good friends to lovers trope and this one was just that. Steele and Lilah have known each other since Sophomore year of college but never dated for one reason or another. They've remained close friends since though. He even calls her Lucky Charm since he thinks she's his lucky charm at his hockey games.
One day Lilah walks in on her boyfriend and a girl from their office going at it on his desk. Yes, they all 3 work together. He doesn't try to excuse it, or keep Lilah as his girlfriend. He admits to what he's doing and that he wants to stay with his other girl. Oh, and it's probably best if Lilah quits her job there so everyone else is comfortable.
Lilah has no job and nowhere to go now. She doesn't want to tell Steele but finally does. Without missing a beat, he has her move in with him and become his assistant.
This was a good one and introduced us to a lot of other characters that I'm sure will be getting their own books in the series. I'm excited for that.

I liked the all around premise of the book. Christian Fox was such a dream in this audiobook and it made me wanna listen to his other works even more. The characters were lovable and no one was too annoying except for the fmc’s ex who cheated. Doesnt matter that he tried to redeem himself by saying they werent meant to be. Overall, book just wasnt remarkable enough for it to hit. The tension was mid. I was more excited for evelyn and hugh? Gaddam that little sneak peak in the epilogue makes me wanna read it nowww

The things this man does with a cigar and with maple syrup (two separate occasions) should be criminal. 😂😂 the chemistry between Steele and Lyla is absolutely inferno. I guess when it’s 10 years in the making, that’s what you’ll get. I absolutely love friends to lovers, especially when one has been pining for the other for so long and when they finally get together it’s so freaking hot and that’s exactly what we get here.
Vanessa and Christian were phenomenal in this audio as Steele and Lyla. You can feel their chemistry and passion coming through the speakers as they’re telling their story. I loved them so much!
