I didn't remember until I was partway through that I had read the first book, with Harbinder Kaur as the detective (first was The Stranger Diaries).
I really enjoyed this one too. Lots of nicely developed red herrings, various interesting characters, and I like her writing style. These are the only two of hers I have read, and I might need to look at her other series.

3.5 stars from me - listened on audiobook. Enjoyable and easy listen with fun characters.
I thoroughly enjoyed this. The Stranger Diaries was so good, and this followup did not disappoint me. It was worth my six-month wait at the library.
One thing I appreciated was the diversity of characters: people of colour, queer people, lots of women, and several elderly folks. The unlikely friend trio of Natalka, Benedict, and Edgar just charmed me so.
It's a murder mystery, so there are murders (duh) but it's not violent or gory. It is mostly a cozy mystery although I suppose not strictly so, since it features a police detective alongside the amateur sleuths.
If you like clever cozy mysteries with very well-drawn, well-rounded characters and witty dialogue, you'll like this.

Easy read with a good story line but felt a bit ‘copycat’ of the Thursday Murder Club and not in line with Griffiths usual writing style.
I’m not sure the mystery itself was that good, but the journey was enjoyable
Reminded me a LOT of the Thursday Murder Club. The mystery itself was a little convoluted but I liked the book all the same. And I liked how Harbinder kept Claire from the last book. Will definitely keep going.

Thoroughly enjoyed this. Thinking it would be the story of Peggy solving murders, I was surprised to find that she died right at the beginning of the book. A classic murder mystery with the modern twist of a gay Sikh detective, Eastern European intrigue & a safe house in Scotland.
The book’s charming, amusing & full of twists. Great stuff.

I love Harbinder but we didn’t get as much of her in that book as I would’ve liked. That being said, I adored Edwin and Benedict and would love to see more of them! I didn’t really get a good feel for Natalka. Also — and very twisty turns Murder mystery; well done, Griffiths, for another lovely, lively, entertaining tale.
