This book is a page-turner.

The detectives: one rich heiress + Agatha Christie fan and the other, a studious girl fan of true crime stories.

They're not Poirot but they're high-spirited girls.

Also because they're not Poirot (more like Hastings honestly) they have people helping them and that actually makes the book more heartwarming.

An enjoyable YA mystery. Loved the Agatha Christie tie-ins.

Some of the dialog was a little juvenile and the climax was a little implausible. But love Agatha Christie, and the mystery had tons of twists and turns to keep me guessing. I’ll definitely read the next book of the series.

I don’t read a lot of YA books but I enjoyed this. Interesting, a little mystery, a fun friendship dynamic with some secret-keeping drama etc. It was fun.

I absolutely love the nod to Agatha Christie in this book. There are already so many references to Sherlock Holmes in YA books, so it was refreshing to see attention paid to a great female mystery author.

The story itself was entertaining, though I did figure out the identity of the murderer midway through the book. But like in true whodunit/puzzle fashion, there are lots of clues to sift through and decent red herrings along the way.

Recommended for 8th and up as there is some language and non-graphic sexual references.

Postacie do bólu nudne.
Plot or Character Driven: Plot

The reveal was a little over the top, but this was a fun read. I appreciate a book (YA even!) assuming the reader can understand backstory by reading between the lines, instead of paragraphs of explanation. Shades of Veronica Mars, too.

Thank you to Net Galley for a free advanced copy of this book to review.

This was a great YA thriller. Plenty of unique characters and a great mystery to be solved. Parts of the story felt a little implausible, especially toward the end, but it all led to a very satisfying conclusion.

I will definitely recommend this to my high schoolers when it comes out.

Interesting setup but the execution is kind of weird. The dialogue is not realistic in the slightest and the two characters feel like the same person and I had a hard time telling them apart when the perspective changed. not a great book but not terrible. just kinda meh
