I didn’t love this one, but it was still a solid 4-star read for me overall. I think that’s mostly because of the audiobook. Teddy Hamilton is one of my favorite narrators, and he really carried the story for me. His performance as Charlie was so good, and CJ Bloom did a great job with Ruby too.
The story itself was just okay for me. I love small-town romances, and this had all the right ingredients, but I didn’t feel super connected to the characters or the plot. It had some sweet moments, and I appreciated the emotional side of Ruby’s journey, but nothing really grabbed me or made me feel invested the way I wanted it to.
Not sure if I’ll continue the series. This one didn’t leave me wanting more, but it was a decent listen and I don’t regret picking it up.
I liked this book but from 65% on I kept thinking we had hit the “third scene moment” every 10%. It just kept going and in the end made me lose momentum and excitement for the story.
