I knew from the start that this book was going to break my heart, and I was very right about that. It did also put it back together again, but damn those last 50ish pages were emotionally devastating 😭😭

Ruby, the new girl in Resurrection, is spending the summer trying to live her life to the fullest. Because of a heart condition she's never been able to live outside the bubble her brother and father have kept her in so she takes herself on a road trip that eventually leads her to this small, country town. Where Charlie, our grumpy cowboy, lives.

But if you're looking for your average grumpy/sunshine, fluffy cowboy romance, you won't find that here. This book is so deep and beautiful and absolutely heartbreaking; it's about more than just finding your person, it's about living life for every single day and following your heart no matter where it may take you. It's about watching the sunrises and the sunsets. About finding the sunflower in every single day.

I can't say enough great things about this book. I loved it, and I'm so excited to spend more time with these characters 💛

🌻 “You and me, we got more sunflower days comin’ and they aren’t gonna stop.” 🌻

I picked this book up solely because I loved Babymoon of Bust and went in blind. I cannot begin to express how glad I am that I did. This was flat out one of the most beautiful stories I’ve ever read. Ruby didn’t need to be so wonderful. She could have crawled away and subjected herself to the mercy of medicine. She did what everyone wants to do: she LIVED. When she lands in Montana, she finds something special. Her endearing and unconditional positive outlook made her so likable. When she meets Charlie, it’s almost like she senses the fellow darkness. Charlie wasn’t just another grumpy cowboy lead. I found him incredibly layered, loving, self sacrificing, and passionate. Charlie and Ruby’s story had a depth that we sometimes only get a touch of in romance books. As for the deliciously spice? It was defiantly there. A solid 2.5. It was the tension and the banter build up that made the climax so good though. Charlie and Ruby’s opposite personalities made it such a fun relationship to watch. The last 25% had me tearing up a few times but it was such perfect ending for them. They have a very well earned HEA.
Also the brothers, who are getting individual books, are seriously hilarious in this one. You got a pretty basic run down of each one and glimpses of their personalities. I cannot wait until book 2.

Charlie runs a ranch he bought after running away because an accident that killed his girlfriend.

Ruby has a heart condition and ran away from her overprotective family to experience a bit of life.

They do not get along immediately.

Someone is also out to sabotage the ranch, so there's a bit of crime and suspense built into this cowboy romance.
