i go horseback riding once and now i want to be a cowgirl
I devoured this book! I was hooked right from the beginning. Loved these two from the moment they first met and knew I was going to be obsessed. Charlie is the perfect grumpy cowboy. Theresa chemistry between him and Ruby is off the charts from the beginning. Loved Charlie’s brothers and their family dynamic. I also really enjoyed the extra layer of suspense in this book compared to other series I have read. I will absolutely be reading the rest of this series!

I’ve heard good things about this book, but I still found myself enjoying it a lot more than I thought I would.
Let me start with Ruby. I loved everything about her. She had a zest for life despite the setbacks and limitations of her condition, and she was determined and wanted to be helpful to those around her.
Right away, Charlie felt a need to protect her, and that protectiveness only grew exponentially as time went on. His conviction to do so never wavered. Apart from that, I could tell the ranch and his family meant a lot to him. Overall, when he loved, he loved HARD, and he protected what he loved.
I did wish they’d be honest with each other a lot sooner, but I understood why they were hesitant. The plot was suspenseful, knowing that he didn’t want to fall in love again after what happened to his fiancée, and she had a heart condition and didn’t want a relationship herself, but they fell for each other anyway. I was waiting for the other shoe to drop. And then it got REALLY suspenseful (especially in the last 25%), and I was holding my breath while reading. And I wouldn’t change a single thing.
TW: supraventricular tachycardia, cardiac arrest

It had potential but I just spent most of the book being mad at Ruby.
Ruby: I WANT TO LIVE!
Also Ruby: Takes unnecessary risks that quite literally almost kill her. And doesn’t tell anyone she has a heart problem for 90% of the book?

Kinda cute and fun, execution could of been better
