I really enjoyed it, but parts of it are pretty forgettable. I loved the fact that we got to see the effects of gun violence from the perspective of a man who was affected and then went back into school . At first, I really hated the hero but the character development and more about his backstory changed my mind. l loved that they both thought that the other wasn't into them at their old school when they were both obsessed with each other . Most of the minor characters were well developed and all of them helped the plot move forward. However, I wish I knew more about Babette, the heroine's best friend, and Babette's daughter. The book mainly focuses on them in relation to the heroine's problems and sometimes I wish we had a little more from the others. It isn't a dealbreaker.
I should probably add more later, but I am not feeling it right now.

What a complete bore! Maybe it wouldn’t be so bad if it was half the page count, but we don’t really see her interact with Duncan until almost halfway through, and then everything took so very long, every single thing kept going on and on and on and it was do obvious why he was how he was and it took so long for it to be “revealed”. I never understood why they loved each other, as i didn’t like either that much, I just basically liked Clay.

This was so disappointing. I actually had to look up what the book was about because I forgot it all. There were some parts of it that were interesting but I just did not like this main character or the main hero at all. Duncan is interesting in theory, but he goes off the deep end with his PTSD and it is explored through tropes that I hate. It felt like drama for the sake of drama instead of actually exploring these very different characters who were both recovering from trauma. The school reminded me of a school I worked at so that was interesting, wish we had seen more of the teachers there or any characters outside of the main hero and heroine, that would've made this feel more authentic. The worst one I've read by Katherine Center to date she is usually lovely.

Overall this was a good read. Samamantha works at a library of a school. They get a new principal, Duncan. Sam has worked with him before and is shocked to see how much he changed. I thought it was very easy to figure out what triggered the change. I like Sam, but can't see why she keeps liking Duncan. He is displayed at public enemy number one and despite all that she still has feeling for him. A team member even says he is cute, but I don't know why she says that since he behaves so badly. I do like the writing style and humor of this author. Even though some aspects of the book annoyed, there also were some good parts.
