Oh Zac the Snack Pack, or Big Texas, as his fans seemed to call him. I freaking LOVED him in The Wall of Winnipeg and Me. He was one of my most favorite characters because of his genuine love and support for Vanessa.
I loved he. Was able to redeem himself in this book. I hate how he was in the previous book, because he seemed so lost. Like he didn’t have a home. Not a physical house, but more of a home that would ground him and keep him sane.
And then, Bianca Brennen comes back into his life. She was a young girl that he watched grow. She was his best friends cousin, and because there was a slight age gap, there wasn’t any romantic interest on his end. They were more like best friends, inseparable. She was his literal shadow, and he didn’t seem to mind it. If anything, he encouraged it.
But because he was a couple of years older than her, he always had girls come and go. And one of them was extremely jealous of their relationship. So she did some shady shit to separate them, without them realizing it.
Fast forw ard to several years, and Zac finds himself back in Bianca’s life, or is it the other way around. And like the big cuddly person that he is, he can’t seem to let her go. He literally plants himself into every aspect of her life and refuses to let go. Because he knows and cherishes their friendship. I think that’s what my most favorite thing about this whole book was. It was the way that their friendship just continued to bloom and blossom. And they managed to grow into something more and beautiful. Something that was worth so much more.
I couldn’t get enough of how they were with each other, and how they fell right in love. And it felt right, perfect actually. Because Bianca was everything that Zac needed. She grounded him and became his home. She gave him purpose and the courage to fight for what he wanted - which ended up being her, in his life forever.
This book like all of Mariana Zapata’s is a very SLOW BURN book. She really makes us work for that steam. But boy is it worth the wait. Definitely one of my most favorite books.

This was definitely a cute book but I just didn’t feel the chemistry between the characters. I truly felt like they were just childhood friends, especially since he always called her kiddo. I mean still a good book and I wasn’t disappointed. I love Mariana Zapata <3
So.. Let me say it like this! It was cool and sweet, and I really think that slow burn is the perfect way to go when writing romance, like not too sweet and fast, but of course we don't want the dry long ass slow-burn as well. Zapata knows her shit, man( personal opinion). Enjoying her books so far. Would I reread them not sure, but it has a way of pulling you into the story for a little while. I think she just writes the way I enjoy reading romance; maybe if we exclude the pregnancy thrope in every epilogue, I can get over it.
This book is repetitive and 100+ pages too long. Main female character is not boring, but— every page she doubts herself and plays down her own importance. And soon it's become an old day and very annoying.
Main male character is just flat, we don't know much about him other than he probably loves football and plays football, goes training, loves family and was a playboy in the past. And he is rich.
To me was very off putting his "kiddo". Their relationship is absolutely without sexual tension. After 70% of a book I stopped waiting for them to kiss.
Their relationship is pretty much platonic. Brother sister like. And I don't get it, she is 27 he 34. When she was a teenager, the 7 years difference was pretty big. But when they are both adults it's a little ridiculous.
I don't like that both of them are afraid of the reaction of friend and cousin Boogie. Because seriously it is not his business. Really. Zak and B not blood related.
I don't like love confession scene. It was just weird for me.
I don't like too much miscommunication and misunderstanding. Also that they both just stopped trying to contact each other. If I had a friend and they stopped answering my calls I would find a possibility to find out what happened.
This book is just as romance just as mustard is a sweet syrup.
And it's all very sad, because I really liked the previous book. Eh.

Mariana Zapata - I just love her books. Zac and Bianca!! I loved it. I also love how all of her characters live in the same universe and you get to see them in different books.
