I thought I didn’t really like this series but decided to give it another try and I actually really like it. It reminds me a bit of the saint Mary’s books but traveling in books instead of time. Fforde’s style of writing can be a bit hard to follow at times but it’s very funny

Hysterically funny! Another must buy book. Between page-, universe-, and time-jumping, Thursday must deal with fairy tales, children's stories, and punny names on this adventure.

This book (and the series) is for fans of classical literature and the humor of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I am not that person.
This was fine but I felt I was missing on the details because I didn't know about all the secondary characters in Charles Dickens' books. Also, a bit too timey wimey and SOOO meta about writing.

Audio-Thursday Next, literary detective, weaves us through a series of books on another amazing adventure. Characters from literature can travel to the real world, or to other books. Fforde, is a master at using fabulous characters, wonderful language, interesting images, and a great plot.
The Jurisfiction co., centered in the Great Library where every book, written, published or not, is there. They protect against everything vocabulary devouring creatures that eat vocabulary to Bowdlerisers, to eliminate obscenity and profanity from books. Thursday becomes the apprentice to Miss Havisham from Great Expectations, a expert book-jumper.( and race driver) She trains with the goal of getting her husband back.
The books is filled with unending fun and laugh out loud moments. Then it ended with a 'to be continued ending' now I have to rush to get the next Next book. LOL

This was the sequel to the Eyre Affair and definitely just as good - one of those books with a little bit of everything and more than a few surprises thrown in. My only real complaint is that Fforde's impressions of what a woman is like during pregnancy was more than a little disappointing - we hear about the baby like once every eight chapters, and while I'll consent that Next was terribly busy in this book, no pregnancy is so easy that you can ignore it entirely. That said, I loved it.
