I read this in one sitting & enjoyed it for the most part. Very gripping and made me want to keep reading to find out what happened. You have to suspend reality at certain points which I wasn’t expecting but I can appreciate how it made the story more interesting (? Not sure if interesting is the right word tbh)

Wtf I absolutely loved this. For its low page count, it packed so many punches I couldn't stop reading. The wooden women will be on my mind for a while, I'm pretty sure. If you can handle the SA depicted in the story (main character flashbacks to the assault) then definitely check out this novella.

Omg this book. I haven’t read a scary book in a long time so I forgot what it felt like. The creepy crawly skin, the really uncomfortable feeling I get when I really don’t want to know what happens next but I HAVE to. Jeremy Ray succeeded in making all these feelings come to life….a reoccurring theme.
I’d say this book was a success in creeping me right out. I wasn’t the biggest fan of our FMC Harley, honestly she pissed me off BUT if she’d been any different the book wouldn’t have worked.
Thanks to Jeremy for this copy, I loved it!

Petrified Women by Jeremy Ray. Thank you to the author for this gifted copy of his novella in exchange for an honest review. This is a horror novella and wow, I loved it! I read it in one sitting last night while home alone. It unnerved me, as a good scary story should. It is spooky, gory and very suspenseful. I would highly recommend this novella if you love a good scary horror story. I will definitely be seeking out more stories from this author now, he has me hooked. ‘Some choose fight, others choose flight, you chose freeze.’ 5/5. Petrified Women is available to purchase on Amazon and is free on Kindle Unlimited! Link available in @jeremyraystories bio.

First off, a huge thank you to the author for allowing me the honor of reading his book and gifting me a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Petrified Women is a novella, so it's pretty short but man does it pack a punch. From how past trauma can affect a person to learning to overcome one's fears and acknowledge abusive behaviors, this is a hard hitter.

Please be aware that parts of this story may be quite triggering for those who have been through such traumas as sexual assault or abuse. Also this story contains forms if gaslighting.

I loved the way Jeremy approached certian situations with care, but also showing the harsh reality of how things can impact your emotional and physical well-being in times of crisis. He takes you right into the trauma and mentality with his descriptions. I felt in my heart the pain and fear the main character Harley was going through.

The imagination Jeremy puts into his characterizations is amazing as well. You get a deep understanding of each character in such a short amount of time. I kind of expected certain things from some of them, but I was not at all disappointed with the execution. I also liked the thought that was put into the pranks that were being played.

This was my first book from Jeremy and it won't be my last! I've already ordered a couple others and can't wait to see how they are in comparison.

Petrified Women by Jeremy Ray – 4 stars

Thank you to the Author for gifting me with his book for an honest review.

Petrified Women is a little horror gift wrapped not with a ribbon and a bow but with a huge red flag!
Harley’s annoying boyfriend Aiden loves practical jokes, and they are a prominent feature in their relationship even if it means messing with Harleys already rocky mental health. Aiden is a self-declared scare master, and his love language seems to be pulling your leg. Harley soon decides her lovable trickster needs a taste of his own medicine. She copies his apartment key intending to scare Aiden senseless, little does she know Aiden already has plans. Harley hides, unable to decipher if Aiden is really her sweet boyfriend or something else entirely.

This novella gripped me from the start which was a mistake to start right before bed as I was almost finished before I knew it. This is a horror story at its core but the dedication to include realistic trauma, mental health struggles and awareness to unstable relationships is what really kept me reading. The Author does include a note for this one at the beginning for many trigger warnings if that is something you need to keep in mind before you begin this book.

Petrified Women is very a tense and claustrophobic read. A slow burn at first that picks up speed until everything is engulfed in its flames and all in under one hundred pages! It reads like a modern horror movie; happy-go-lucky until shit hits the fan then it’s all GO! GO! GO! Parts of me were screaming inside at Harley wanting to shake her into awareness or recognition and as a subjective observer its hard to not be frustrated by decisions that may seem illogical to most. However, as FATE and FURY would have it, my aggravations were short lived, and implore you to read this novella to find out my meaning.
