I really liked Book 1 in this series, then felt Book 2 took much too long to get to it's ultimately satisfying end. Book Three, Gods & Monsters, has the opposite but equal problem. It’s too long, and too much happens. Way too much. A number of cool set pieces are jammed in back-to-back, like Mahurin had a burst of great ideas after finishing the second book, and wanted to get them all in. The result is scattered and choppy. There are way too many characters. I pictured a lunatic’s basement diorama with red-thread strings connecting it all. At several points during Book Three, and especially during the grand finale, I couldn’t keep track of who was where or why. I just knew it was ending, so I kept going at the speed forced on me by the crescendo, rather than taking a little time to appreciate the final acts of each of the characters I had really come to know and enjoy. Most of their ultimate contributions were lost in the barrage of action. The end of the story is satisfying, yes. But the experience of it could have been better.
Ultimately, I enjoyed this series. It’s common, though disappointing, when the end doesn’t quite meet the level of the beginning. A little more long-term planning, or an editor to say, “Save this for the next series!” would have made it a 4 star series for sure.

(yess im actually freaking out because i found the perfect song i can imagine Reid singing this also it has the exact same title as the book)
“Hope isn't the sickness"
Witch x Witch hunter
I had high hopes for this and idk if they were met, I did not like the second book but this was an improvement still it was very very close to becoming a dnf but alas I forced myself through itSomething else was that there was not enough romance like reid and lou were miscommunicating and arguing for most of the second book so i thought we’d get something here but nope well at least not for a lot of the book
I really think this book could have been finished in the first 200 pages but nopee it stretched on for like 600 which was very unnecessary, i already felt like I'd been through too much just in those pages and the fight scene could have finished everything off nicely.
I had a hard time remembering half the people maybe cause they're were so many or cause i paused the book but it lead to me rereading a few scenes just to make sense of what was happening.
Kinda spoiler?
To say i was pissed about the Reid getting amnesia or watever would be a understatement it was soo unnecessary and just lowered the already small amount of romance in the book, its like we had to go through the first book all over again- I'm done with reid being such a prick was reallyy annoyed when it first happened not sure if he would get it back and stuff but throughout the book there were some cute scenes due to it(not saying that the whole as amnesia plot was a good idea though)
*spoiler for those who have not read the second book*
Probably the best part of the book
Ansel asking coco and Lou to let go of him was so heart-wrenching and pretty well done i think it really rounded off his character and helped the others let go of some of that guilt- i was literally in tears. Ansel was prob one of my faves he didn't deserve what happened

Firstly i had really hoped that the lou getting her body taken over by Nicholina would not last too long and i wass happy to see it was really only one-quarter of the book.Spoiler
First lou gets possessed then reid loses his memory- can't they catch a break or smI really think this book could have been finished in the first 200 pages but nopee it stretched on for like 600 which was very unnecessary, i already felt like I'd been through too much just in those pages and the fight scene could have finished everything off nicely.
