ok so i liked the ending
but most of the book we are right where we started. with reid hating lou and lou tryna woo him. which i feel like has been the conflict for every book. it wouldve been nice to have a break from their relationship being impossible and just have them be a couple whilst focusing on the overall plot more. it felt like the main plot was just reid’s self rediscovery which has happened 3 times in 3 books

The Impression:
A final battle as the crew tries to look for Morgane to finally kill her at last as the kingdom is not safe until she's good and dead. But a darkness takes over Lou, and soon, the cat and mouse games are about to begin. The group of friends battle through riddles, quests, as well as meeting Gods and Monster (thus the title) to at last fight to the finish.
4/9
Early, but I'm calling it. This book IS DEEP. Truly takes you into the darkness of the mind and soul that's in all of us. Lou is possessed clearly, and Reid is caught unawares. Trying to decide where his own loyalty lies, his sense of what is good, what is evil. Morally grey indeed.
4/10
The depiction of Lou's soul being lost to the dark play on some of my darkest fears concerning death and the idea of non-existence. I love how Celie is slowing getting more involved in the story. And now they're going to try and figure out how to exorcise Lou.
4/11
Tis a strange and journey they go on...spooky. Zenna being a dragon was...wow...
4/12
Ok, so this gist here is as theyre being healed by the Wistful Waters, they are having to face the ugliest truths about THEMSELVES. This war is not ofbrute strength, but of spiritual and psychological. If we can go back to those moments that define us, what would we see?
4/13
Everything Lou is going through with Ansel reminds me of someone in a coma. I wonder if the author wrote this having lost someone dear to her and this is her way to heal🤔. I can feel the grief bleeding through the pages and that is what I believe to be the central theme here. Grief.
Wow...so...Angelica is COCO'S mother???!!!🤔. And i often wondered what pattern Reid was too afraid to pull from...
4/14
So...Reid's unconscious now and we're about to meet Isla...
4/15
Meeting Mesulines in a mysterious underwater kingdom. I hope their interest in Celie is not nefarious🤔
4/16
Aaawww!!! Female bonding!!! So beautiful!!!😭😭😭 Now we know how deep Isla's hate and saltiness goes. And now we know the extent of Reid's sacrifice to save Lou. And I thought it was so funny how Lou desperately tried to wake him up. 🤣🤣
4/17
Yyyaaayy!! Jean-Luc's back!!🤗 And I love how he wouldnt hurt his friend!
4/18
Its sweet and funny how Lou tries to get Reid to fall in love with her again. I love Jean-Luc and I'm glad he's joined the crew to fight the good fight.
Now we know the truth of Coco's origins🤔
End of Part III. The stakes are high, literally and figuratively for Madame Labelle.😱
4/20
Whew! Intense as Reid struggles to remember...
And as always...their plans fail..miserably...
Man...so sad how theyre about to face their end and Reid still can't remember her. He just remember feeling that he loves her and the sun is about to set.
4/22
OMG!!!😱 That intense scene when Reid remembers!!! Lou taking away everyone's pain!!! Probably one of the most dramatic climaxes I've ever read!!! I couldn't stop crying!!😭😭😭
4/23
The battle got a little messy in end, but I'm glad it all came together. The epilogue was EVERYTHING and I'm glad it included everyone, including Ansel.
The Verdict
Wow, that was an emotional roller coaster. I love how SM laced humor with intense scenes about love, sacrifice, and grief, how Lou and Reed finally got the ending they deserved, and that Ansel finally found his mother. I love how everyone fought for love and for each other, and showing that life is worth living. Great ensemble of characters and was almost sad for the journey to end.

Lowest i can possibly give a book goes to this one. Wow. I can't say I've ever disliked how a series ended before. They played truth or dare for gods sake. I will forever tell people to never read this.
