Out of the series this was my favorite book. There was always some struggle going on without the actual fighting part of it I was still at the edge of my seat. I liked how
Lou was possesed and then right after she was possesed Reid lost his memories. It made me really invested in what was happening with the characters
it is a bit disappointing that the other books weren’t like this one but overall I liked it. I think ish there had been a better conclusion to the story though. Like yes
Morgane is dead but what about all the hunters still trying to kill everyone and the massive bounty still on their heads? What about the witches who wanted to see Lou dead so hunters would stop killing them? I don’t think people will just now a knee to Lou now I wish we got to see more of the aftermath besides a wedding.

"You’ve worked too hard and too long to give up now. Come on. You want more than oblivion. You want to live.”
a little disappointed but nevertheless satisfied-ish with how the trilogy ended. I do think this one was better than the second one..
honestly don't think that God & Monsters needed to be it's own book.. however I do think that the ending of the story wrapped the series up nicely. I can definitely see how the mega-fans of the series will LOVE this book way more than I did.
Serpent & Dove will hold a special place in my heart for one of my favorite fantasy/romantasy books I've read so far. however, I think that the series could've been shaved down and reworked to have been a duology, and the final battle more thought through...

Out of all 3 books, I believe that this was the best out of the series. However, it wasn't until pages <400 was the story actually enjoyable. Meaning that only near the end, did I enjoy the overall story.

Let me explain.

In the first book, it was obvious that it was a slow burn that prioritized the romance over the world/plot. Some people love that type of story, I on the other hand, did not. I wanted to know more what was happening in their world. I did like the intricacy of the love and the feelings behind the main characters. However, it went on for too long in my opinion.
Throughout the series, I would flip between who I was actually interested in. Mostly it being Ansel and Claud. Yet those weren't the main characters but ended up liking them more than the actual main characters.
Loved Lou in the first, hated her in the second, neutral in the third. Annoyed by Ried in the 1st, 2nd I liked a bit more, 3rd was also meh.

No matter what the characters do, they will have one goal/problem, and then 2-3 more issues arise. The 'bad guys' almost had foresight into the character's action to the point that was tirering.

Overall, I give the series, all three books as a whole, a 3.5

Those who love the romance genre but want to get into the fantasy genre would like this series.
