In this book we follow our group as they realise and aim to help exorcise Nicholina from Lou via the Wistful Waters and visiting the Goddess Isla, also meeting Coco’s supposedly dead mother, where the waters manage to heal Lou and she fights Nicholina for control and return to herself. Upon reemerging, Celie and Beau are held hostage by Voisin and Morgane, where Reif uses his power to remove all memories of Lou from Morgane, losing his own memory of her in the process and rendering himself unconscious. The group then meet with Isla and Angelina where they agree to retrieve the ring from the Chateau in exchange for their alliance - although Reid’s loss of memory makes this significantly harder - but they manage to retrieve the ring and secure the alliance. We then have the group try to convince Reid, now convinced he is still S&D Reid, that his memories are worth retrieving but only he can access them which he of course refuses to believe. We also reunite with Claud who regretfully cannot help with the memories. As the group trek to find new allies, they learn that the King plans to kill Labelle at the stake by the end of the week and a new plan is born. The plan ends with Lou and Reid trapped in a cage together and also then awoken tied to the stakes which Beau accidentally lights, causing Reid to see Lou in danger which pushes him to restore his memories, and therefore Morgane’s as well. King Augustine dies via the fire and the battle with Morgane and the witches is begun once again. After a lot of killing and bloodshed and pain, Lou finally subdues and kills Morgane and the plans for rebuilding both the country and the Chateau are started. The book finishes off with Ansel’s perspective of Lou and Reid’s wedding (where they left chairs for him and Claud) as we also see him take his mother’s hand as all our characters move on to some new and, hopefully happier, beginnings.

THIS. BOOK. WOW. I adored this book and absolutely flew through it as I just could not put it down. I loved the storylines and the characters, seeing S&D Reid again was something I never knew I actually wanted, and I loved how everyone started to form and accept these new bonds and friendships. Although memory loss is not usually my favourite plot point I didn’t mind this one, although it did feel a bit tedious at times when I just wanted them to be happy. All in all, I really enjoyed this book and this trilogy as a whole and I will not be letting these characters out of my head or out of my heart anytime soon.
