This was an intense and mostly gratifying end to a very turbulent trilogy. I was a bit unsatisfied by the ending but I understand why she did it the way she did.

ugh, i could say so much. this series was awful (read: good) bc every time something good finally happened, something worse would immediately happen next!! im not 100% sure the payoff was savored enough for the amount of turmoil i went through reading it, but it was a satisfying ending

I can't believe it's over... I was laughing and crying during the epilogue, I wasn't expecting THAT. I'll miss Lou & Reid so much, they're definitely one of my favorite book couples and I'll always remember their story.

Thank you Shelby for writing such a beautiful ending for this amazing story.

Oh, THIS BOOK. THESE CHARACTERS. MY HEART. It gave the same vibes of The Crimson Moth, the found family of Six of Crows, and the epic-ness (specifically the last book) as Throne of Glass. MY BABIES.

I highlighted 101 different lines throughout this book - 101….that’s insane. These characters were so fleshed out, funny, relatable, and lovable and I just wanted everything to work out in their favor. I literally was laughing and hooting along with the characters and their wins, snorting at Lou’s jokes, turning into a puddle with Reid’s understanding and love, cheering at Coco always being in the right place at the right time, being gobsmacked at Beau’s quick comebacks, and feeling Ansel’s presence every step of the way (and the epilogue had me crying my eyeballs out on the floor of my room).

Everything fell into place at the end for me, with pieces sprinkled in from the earlier books that tugged on my heartstrings. Although it did have one of my absolute least favorite tropes (
memory loss
), I got over it because it fit well with the story and was actually done well with its resolution. The plot structure made sense in this book, but I do still stand firm that I think it would have been stronger as a duology. Regardless, this story brought me so much joy and hope, and a full list of my favorite quotes will have to be made soon because they were JUST SO GOOD.
